Board Business...
This week the board held its first meeting of the year and welcomed new members Felicity Swerdlow, Heather Ramirez, and Carol Carlberg-Snyder. We reviewed the finances from last year and we are pleased to say that the school is in sustainable financial shape. The board is putting together a small group to work on facilities with PJTC, the owners of the building. That discussion will begin right after the High Holidays.
Mrs. Feldman has also been part of an exciting collaborative group with Rabbi Becky, from PJTC, and Judy Callahan, from B'nai Simcha preschool. Together they have set up some great opportunities to build our broader community including Israeli dancing with kindergarten and preschool, preschool joining the Daniel Pearl Concert, and the PJTC religious school, WDS, and Bnai Simcha all doing the same mitzvah project of collecting apples for Friends in Deed this month. This expanded community, which covers all ages and stages of life, truly benefits everyone and enriches the experiences all around. The WDS board is excited to see this collaboration as it begins to take hold.
If you participate in the preschool or PJTC, or any other early childhood center or temple, and feel you could be an ambassador for Weizmann Day School, please let us know at our email - board@weizmann.net.
Shabbat Shalom,

PTO Makes It Happen...
THIS WEEK'S EVENT: PTO will be featuring apples and honey for sale to celebrate the New Year. Many thanks to Jen L. for organizing this annual tradition. Please stop by at drop off or pick up and purchase your treats from the 5th graders for a sweet start to the new year.

WE GET QUESTIONS: Why did we need to bring in so many school supplies for the beginning of the year? Although it may seem like there was a lot of duplication or extra supplies on the list, the students actually go through most everything brought in by about the middle of the year. Extra copy paper and paper products, such as Kleenex and paper towels, are used every day so while it seems like a lot, it really is never enough. Thank you to all the parents for helping start the year off with all the right supplies. We do also welcome extra office/classroom supplies throughout the year. Please check with Carrie in the Weizmann office.
Alumni In Action...
Three Weizmann staff are alumni parents and two will soon be on their way with three college-bound WDS alum students.  Ms. Dinerman is off to Olympia, Washington, with daughter Hannah, who will attend Evergreen State College.  Hannah just completed a season with the U.S. Forest Service on a Hotshot fire crew.  Ms. Freedenthal is driving up north with son, David, who will be entering UC Davis this fall.  Upon her return, she will fly with daughter, Sarah, who will be starting as a freshman Beaver at Oregon State University.
