We Are Off To A Great Start...
With the beginning of school just six days away, teachers and staff have been busily getting ready for the return of our students and their families.  How does one prepare for a new school year, you might ask.  The answer is simple - plan and then plan some more!

Part of the planning process is engaging in training sessions with professionals.  Weizmann hosted Altadena Sheriff's Deputy Scott Rule who spoke about numerous topics, including campus security, safety training, and cyber bullying.  Next the staff met with PJTC's Rabbi Becky Silverstein and Keshet's National Manager of Education & Training, Daniel Bahner, who spoke about the importance of inclusion and working together towards a more socially just society.  The last two specialized training sessions were CPR certification and SMART Board Professional Development for Educators.  In addition to the training classes, staff participated in team meetings, topic meetings, and school business meetings.

On Wednesday, 8/26, our first formal orientation meeting day, we had the opportunity to welcome our newest staff members, Jeffrey Prince, Jewish Music Specialist, James Duran, General Music Specialist, and WDS alumna Stephanie McQuown, Admissions Associate.  The entire staff was also honored to share a delicious lunch courtesy of PTO.  As you can see, we have been very busy readying ourselves and our campus for your imminent return.
Some of the words mentioned during training sessions!
Did You Know Weizmann Has A YELP Page?
One of the most significant marketing tools we have is US, and one of the most effective ways of advertising Weizmann is through word of mouth.  With that in mind, we invite you to participate in a little contest.

Have you and your family had an incredible experience at WDS? Do you like to win prizes? We would appreciate you sharing your stories with others who may be interested in attending WDS. Please leave us a review on Yelp. Be part of the first minion of 10 people to leave us a Yelp review. After we receive 10 Yelp reviews, one lucky reviewer will win a limited edition WDS blanket. Thank You and Good Luck!

There is a new, magic, money-making box in the office and it has already begun generating an income.  All you have to do to help us raise funds that directly support school programs, field trips, and activities is deposit your Box Top for Education symbols in the marked box located in front of Carrie's desk.

Every box top collected is worth 10 cents - it IS that simple!

Alumni In Action...
Something In The Way is a portrait series shot by Weizmann alumni Sam Sulam, in honor of his mother, Rose z"l, a former WDS parent who recently passed away.  Sam's photo exhibition, which will be displayed in Los Angeles in October, is a fundraiser for The Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade.

Photographer and Weizmann alumni Sam Sulam with model Corrie Lejuwaan, a photo from Sam's portrait series.

Former Weizmann students Nadav (from Israel), and Ron & Shira (from Germany), returned to Southern California this summer and visited some of their WDS pals. Word has it Shira is off next to study for a semester in Canada.
