Purim At Weizmann:

Rosh Hodesh Adar 5775

Purim is fast approaching and we would like to inform you about our program at school.  On Thursday, March 5th in the morning, at 11:00, we will have a traditional Purim carnival.  We welcome volunteers to help set up, run the prize booth, and clean up.  Please let PTO  committee chair, Jill (Raidon's mom), know if you are available.

There are four mitzvot, commandments, on Purim: Reading Megillat (the Scroll of) Ester, exchanging gifts Mishloah Manot, having a festive meal, and gifts to the needy, Matanot L'evyonim.  We will be fulfilling all four mitzvot with your participation.

  • Megillat Ester - 4th grade students are chanting at 1:30pm in Knell Chapel
  • Mishloah Manot - Please bring a decorated bag for exchange at school.  The bag should include an item from each of the following categories:
    • o   Juice
    • o   Fruit
    • o   Sweet snack
    • o   Salty snack
  • Festive Meal - Students will exchange Mishloah Manot at school and have the opportunity to enjoy some of the treats.
  • Matanot L'evyonim - As part of our year of Mizvot, we are collecting boxes of Macaroni and Cheese the entire month of March.

In addition, each class will be making a Mishloah Manot package for our community members: PJTC Religious School, B'nai Simcha, and The Peace and Justice Academy.  We welcome your donations to make these packages. Watch for an email from your classroom teacher regarding your students' item.

Thank you for all you do to make our community special!
