HANUKKAH HAPPENINGS!

Last night's Hanukkah Math Night was a huge success.  Students and their families were engaged in math activities; they ate latkes and sufganiyot prepared by the middle school; they performed, sang, and played violin; and everyone joined in on a group Hanukkah mad-libs led by Mr. Marks. Below for your reading enjoyment is the mad-libs story.

Many DECADES ago in the land of IN-N-OUT, the Jews were SLIPPERY until a SMELLY CHEESE,  CHEESECAKE took over. He RAN a new COOKIE, that the Jews could no longer keep GLIDA but instead must follow the ZOMBIES of the Greeks. He even KAYAKED a GIRAFFE in the BLAZING Temple in A GRAVEYARD!

Then one day, CHAVA Maccabee fought back! He declared PHONE against the CHEESE BALLS. The PHONES outnumbered them a million to 43.764.  But God let the HUNGRY defeat the EXPLODING, the FLYING defeat the CREEPY, and the STICKY defeat the AWESOME.

After FLIPPING fighting, Judah's LEOPARD conquered MYTH-BUSTERS LIVE and entered the SPACE. But when they tried to DRINK the FOX, there was no unspoiled SPIKY. Finally, they found 3.1415926 UNDERWATER of kosher MENORAH. A great NEON CAT happened! The RAINBOW DRANK for 2.5 BILLION DECADES.

Ever since, we PITCHED the FLOWERS of Hanukkah each  MILLISECOND, lighting EIFFEL TOWERS and SNEEZING FIREWORKS.

Did you know...
that the middle school students had a lesson in map-making with grapefruit?  They drew the equator, the compass rose, and the prime meridian on the grapefruit and then peeled it to try and make a flat rectangular map.  They learned about projections in map making and how all of our maps are pretty distorted!

that new ASA classes will be starting just after the new year? Registration for Chess, Lego Robotics, Kids Art, Young Chefs, and Mad Science need to be completed by Friday, January 9.

that MORE Weizmann students, in the Tech Lab and on the iPads, have begun participating in the International Hour of Code?

that the middle school students recently joined the B'nai Simcha pre-schoolers for a reading-buddy activity?

that many of the students participated in an art/science activity when they shaped pipe cleaners and dipped them in hot water with Borax?  What do you think the result will be?

that Science Fair packets were sent home in an email this past week?  Please be sure to review for deadlines!

that in addition to Amazon Smiles, we will soon be adding Amazon Associates to our website?  It is another easy way to help raise school funds just by shopping Amazon.
