Bakesh Shalom V'Rodefehu...Psalm 34:15

Kindness, Respect and Safety are the cornerstones of our Responsive Classroom program.  Much of our professional development and staff in-service training has centered on ways we can ensure all three dictums.

This year's middah, Bakesh Shalom--Seek Peace and Pursue It--is a mitzvah found in our ancient Judaic texts, yet is of utmost importance today.  Pursuing peace among the students and staff on campus, and seeking peaceful coexistence and collaborative activity with our neighbors at B'nai Simcha Preschool and the Pasadena Jewish Temple and Center, is what we all desire.  And we also desperately crave peace in Israel among all of her inhabitants.  At this sad and painful time, we pray for all of the mourners and families suffering loss.  In response to this most grievous tragedy of events, we remember how grateful we are to live in a country where peace and tolerance abide.  Elements of Wednesday's  Thanksgiving Concert will more strongly address this point.

We take the need for physical safety at Weizmann quite seriously. You have probably noticed the patrol car parked adjacent to the campus and should know the sheriff patrols have also increased.  We are working closely with the temple administration to ensure that maximum safety measures are being employed and today we conducted a lock down practice drill throughout the campus, discussing afterward at our weekly faculty meeting, the appropriate ways we keep our students and campus safe.

Thank you for entrusting us with your children's social, emotional, and academic growth.  I promise you we all take this responsibility seriously.  We love and care for your children as our own.

Shabbat Shalom

Lisa
