Holiday Happenings

Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Simhat Torah

What an incredible start to the New Year!  We have had the opportunity to celebrate many Jewish holidays together including Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot and Simhat Torah!

On September 22 and 23 the entire school had the opportunity to bake round hallot in celebration of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.  The round hallah symbolizes the unending cycle of life.

In honor of Yom Kippur, the fourth grade students put on an incredible modern interpretation of the story of Jonah.   The story of Jonah is read every year during the afternoon service on Yom Kippur to remind us of God's infinite mercy.

During art class many students had the opportunity to create wonderful pieces of art which were hung in our community sukkah on campus.  Every class had the opportunity to visit the sukkah and to shake the lulav and etrog.  Our kindergarten students enjoyed spending time in the sukkah with their B'nai Simcha buddies and Mrs. Feldman.  The second and third grade classes had a wonderful time visiting the Pinson's sukkah, and the middle school had the opportunity to visit Rabbi Grater's sukkah.

We extend our gratitude and thanks to the Pinson and the Grater families for inviting us so warmly to their sukkot.

The morning of Wednesday, October 15, the school gathered together on the yard to celebrate Simhat Torah.  The entire school danced together with the Torah, and the younger students brought out the flags they made in Jewish Studies class!

Look out for more upcoming Holiday Happenings throughout the year!

Did you know...

that PTO has extended the deadline for Innisbrook fundraiser orders until Monday, 10/27?  Remember -- we get a return of 45-50% on each and every item sold.  Sales can be done online for distant family and friends, too.

that PTO is also sponsoring our first restaurant dinner fundraiser on October 28 at Chuck E. Cheese in Hasting's Ranch?  Weizmann receives 15% of all monies spent, including food and tokens.  To help promote this fundraiser, Chuck E. Cheese himself will visit Weizmann next Monday, 10/27, at lunchtime...if you know your child may be frightened by his appearance, please notify the office and an alternative activity will be planned.

that we had a record number of FIVE schools participating in this year's Daniel Pearl concert and that we hold the unique title of being the only multi-cultural youth Harmony for Humanity concert, featuring students of grades Pre-K through High School on the same stage?

that we are now collecting new and gently used books for this month's
Kehillah community service project?

that this has been one of our most successful Book Fairs yet? Thanks to all who helped and to all those who supported with purchases.
