On Friday, October 25, 2013, thousands of families, friends, neighbors and community members throughout the greater Los Angeles area will be participating in 1,000 Shabbat Celebrations and we at Weizmann are embracing the community spirit by hosting our own Generations Shabbat! Guests of our students-grandparents, neighbors, relatives and family friends are invited to share Shabbat with us.  We will open the doors of Knell Chapel shortly before 1:45pm to greet our guests and welcome them to our school - wide service led by our middle school students. (Kindergarten guests will begin at 1:00pm at a separate location as their day will culminate upon the conclusion of the service.)

This week our students designed and addressed invitations that we will stamp and post.  Well aware that many of us do not have local family we will certainly ensure that no one feels left out.  Guests can be shared and I know of a few board members who would love to lend themselves to an "adopt a grandparent" visit to partake in our festivity. 

After services the entire congregation will proceed directly to the breezeway where tables will be set up to host the juice and hallah blessings. Please RSVP so we know how many tables and chairs to set up.

The goal of Generations Shabbat is to extend an invitation to the larger community to visit our beloved school and see the gifts that a Jewish day school education provides.  Please join us in continuing to support and grow Weizmann.
