A Multitude of Mitzvot
Last week in celebration of the Hundredth Day of School our students participated in a variety of projects relating to the penny. Students and teachers were asked to bring 100 pennies in honor of the 100th Day. Each grade did various math activities from creating bar graphs to tallying the pennies by dates to conducting probability tests when flipping the coins. From all of the pennies collected we were able to send approximately $60 (which was more than 6000 pennies) to the Ronald McDonald House, fifth grade's mitzvah project. Thank you to all of the parents, students, and staff who contributed to this worthy charity.
Tomorrow our second and third grade students are planning to visit Eaton Canyon to help clean up trash along the trails and learn about the animals in the Nature Center as part of their mitzvah project. Eaton Canyon is a favorite Weizmann destination and we are grateful that our students can go there regularly to learn about and care for this nearby natural habitat.
Monday, we can once again do a mitzvah in celebration of Purim. It is customary when rejoicing and regaling in the merriment of Purim to remember that others may not be as fortunate as us. To support these members of our society we are collecting canned and boxed non-perishable food items to be donated to Friends in Deed, fourth grade's mitzvah project.
Thank you for helping our students to participate actively in the mitzvah of Tikkun Olam, making the world a better place.
Shabbat Shalom,
Lisa

Weather permitting, 2nd and 3rd grades will be visiting Eaton Canyon as part of their mitzvah project for an outdoor activity tomorrow, Friday, February 22nd. The children will walk leaving at 8:45am and return by 10:30am. Please have your child wear the Weizmann t-shirt.
So that everyone may enjoy the Purim custom of Misloah Manot, exchanging food bags with friends, we ask that each student prepare a decorated paper bag at home filled with three different food items (e.g., a granola bar, piece of fruit, sweet treat, etc.) that will be exchanged with another student in a "lot style" activity at school on the afternoon of the 25th.
We are collecting canned and boxed food items in observance of Matanot L'Evyonim on Purim. The donated food will go to Friends in Deed, in support of 4th grade's mitzvah project.
We are proud to announce that Maite is our "Woman Who Makes a Difference" honoree at this year's 2013 Annual Women's Forum on Tuesday, March 19 at the Doubletree Hotel in Monrovia. Please plan to join us in celebrating her volunteer efforts and accomplishments. See attached flyer. Annual Women's Forum Flyer
