As a parent and educator, I can tell you that the middle school years -- the natural and often turbulent transition from childhood to adolescence -- are a wonderful time for young people to be in a supportive, nurturing, familiar environment that does not introduce excessive new stressors or pressures

There is certainly a plethora of scientific evidence that backs up these ideas. For example, in his 2012 article
The Middle School Plunge, Martin West of Harvard's Graduate School of Education, reported that
"students who left elementary schools for middle schools in grades six or seven lose ground in both reading and math compared to their peers who attend K-8 schools."  In addition, an article published by the Office of Program Policy Analysis & Government Accountability titled K-8 Schools May Help School Districts Improve Student Performance shared that
"middle grade students who attended K-8 schools performed better than their counterparts... (who transferred to) middle schools in five subject areas: language arts, mathematics, reading, science, and social studies."

This type of evidence is among many reasons I was so passionate about expanding Weizmann to a K-8.  This year we were thrilled to welcome Hagar, Omer and Zoe to our Middle School and like  Eitan, Rebecca and Samantha, who joined us last year, their presence enhanced our community of learners and contributed significantly to a broader academic presence.  Already we have received a number of applications for next year's Middle School and look forward to welcoming more students to our outstanding academic and enriching education.  You can support our efforts as ambassadors of Weizmann promoting the school in the community as we continue to grow our community.  Thank you.

Shabbat Shalom,

Lisa
