Habonim Dror Camp Gilboa
|
Last year Weizmann students participated in two exciting activities with Habonim Dror Camp Gilboa about Yom HaZikaron and Yom Ha'Atzmaut. Both activities were run by Gilboa's counselors in Gilboa's hands-on style and were engaging and interesting for our students.
Next week on Tuesday and Thursday, we will be visited by Camp Gilboa counselors again to learn about Yitzhak Rabin, and to participate in a program celebrating MLK, Jr. and Jewish involvement in the civil rights movement. The Rabin activity is a participatory exhibition where our students will learn about Israel's history via Rabin's life, as well as discuss the power of words and the fine line that separates freedom of speech from hate speech.
Next week we will tell you how the programs went. Meanwhile, if you're already thinking about summer camp, please take a look at Gilboa's website to see what they have to offer. Gilboa is an overnight summer camp for children entering 3rd through 12th grade, located by the shores of beautiful Bluff Lake near Big Bear. It's a warm and fun-loving youth-led community and children participate in creative, joyous and thoughtful activities meant to
foster independence, responsibility for the community, and a connection to Judaism & Israel. They offer two-week, three-week and five-week sessions, as well as a four-night mini-camp for children entering 3rd and 4th grades.
