Elections Come to Weizmann!!
| |
News from Middle School Social Studies:
Avatars for President!
In order to study the election process and the upcoming election, the middle school students have created presidential avatars and learned about the process of becoming president. They made posters, developed platforms, and gave speeches before holding caucuses and conventions and then voting in the primaries last Friday. All WDS students will participate in the campaign by listening to short speeches and a debate between the two final candidates and then voting for their preferred candidate on Election Day. Watch the hallways for posters and listen for ads on our intercom about the two candidates on the ballot in November!
FOR PRESIDENT:
1) Christopher Newton (created by Aaron and McKenzie) and running mate Jon Arnold (created by Ben and Omer) are assisted by Campaign Manager Zen Herman (created by Rebecca and Nelson).
2) Amber Kunis (created by Samantha and Hagar) and running mate Kai Mauer (created by Eitan and Matthew) are assisted by Campaign Manager Sasha Fain (created by Nicole, Libby, and Karen).

Did You Know.....?
| We will have a guest author, Ann Stampler, (co-sponsored by the Jewish Federation) visiting our school Thursday, November 15, 12:00pm-1:30pm as part of our Spirit Day festivities.
Students in grades second through eighth, actively take part in our parent/teacher conferences. Afterschool Adventures is available. Charges begin at regular times; 2:45 for kindergarten and 3:45 for grades 1-8.
We are getting ready to send out our Annual Fund letters. Our annual fundraising campaign directly benefits our students by providing the resources for our programs. Please send the addresses of family members and friends we can include in our mailings-grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors, etc., to Makenzie at mmeans@weizmann.net. Thank you for this support.
Kindergarten and first grade visited the Terraces on Wednesday, October 24. For the first visit of their mitzvah project, the students sang several songs for the residents and then took some time to introduce themselves to the residents and share a snack. It was an enjoyable visit for both the students and the residents. Kindergarten and first grade will continue their mitzvah project throughout the year, visiting the Terraces on the second Tuesday of each month.
Who Knew... That crazy hats and sunglasses were so fashionable? Any of the students here could have told you so, especially after they modeled their own head gear and eye wear on our own WDS Spirit Day runway. Our first Spirit Day was a huge success with fun activities, crafts, dancing, and music at lunch recess. The next Spirit Day is a Weizmann favorite - pajama reading day - coming on November 15. Watch for additional details soon.

| Garden News: | |
"A Time to Plant, A Time to Reap..."
Our garden is now loaded with seeds and seedlings - carrots, parsley, cauliflower, peas, greens, and three kinds of lettuce. Thanks to the hard work of our students, the vegetable beds have been weeded and we now anxiously await the first sprouts. We are also grateful to the many parents who continue to help us maintain our growing garden.
