There's been a lot going on in this past month, both here in San Diego and in Cambodia. Suy Leang, one of our directors with whom we work through the NGO, Solidarity Fund for Rural Development, has been busy searching out new connections in Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia. We're hoping that in a few months we will have new group of mother clients starting up there. In this newsletter you can see Suy Leang's full monthly report to the left. Our clients are from the village area of Kos Khel in Kandal province. I've thrown in a few sample shots with quotes from the women. The link is there too for the full report. Take a few moments to view it, and I know you'll be inspired.
I'm lucky to have found in Suy Leang a hard working trustworthy and dependable director. Once you read through some of the material you may be inspired to help the process with a small donation. If so, it's very easy to do. Remember, any amount will be very much appreciated.
Please donate here. Suy Leang is also making good connections with the community in other ways. Through the local Rotary Club. When I was in Cambodia last October/November, I visited several Rotary clubs, and I had the opportunity to invite Suy Leang to one of those clubs. He has now joined the club, and is becoming an active member. I'm proud to have been a Rotarian for many years, my home club being right here in Encinitas. Rotary is an amazing service organization that brings thousands of needed services all over the world, and has been doing so for more than 100 years.

As I mentioned last month, we are planning a MfM Theatre Night to support a very specific program in Cambodia. One of the other NGOs that we work through, Pathways to Development, has a sanitation project that supplies latrines to many needed families in poor rural areas. This is a project that we want to support. It's the first time we're doing a theatre night, so I'm hoping many of our supporters will want to participate. The date has changed from what I announced last month. It is now set for
Thursday, June 6. The play is a special production by the Mo'olelo Performing Arts Company that deals with the serious theme of Cambodia's Khmer Rouge period. As we know, Cambodia is a poor country still in recovery from that trying period in its history - one of the reasons MfM is there doing what we can to help the people. Take a look at the detail of the production to the left in this newsletter, and I'm sure many will be inspired to join us. We want to make the evening as comfortable as possible for everyone, so we are hoping to offer group transportation by van. You'll here more about this detail next month. For now, please save the date: Thursday, June 6 (8 pm).

Our local Vista program is moving along very nicely, as well. One of my good fortunes there is having found some excellent help from key individuals like Allen McKay, Joel Sierra and Griselda Johnson. They have been of immeasurable assistance as we move that program forward. We've received funding from the Encinitas Rotary Club and the larger Rotary District here in our area to help expand the local program. We're looking at possibilities in Escondido where a new group could be forming very soon.

For the past many years we have participated in the Encinitas Wine Festival as a beneficiary. And this year is no different. We're planning now for this popular garden party that does so well for our bottom line. Please mark your calendars for
Saturday, June 1st. More detail will be coming in next month's news. Hope to see you there. In the section to the left you can view the promotion video from last year. Remember, the video is from last year. This year's event is June 1st.

So, we move on to plans for Spring. I look forward to working with my fabulous team both here and in Cambodia. Would anyone like to join us. There's a lot to be done, so if you become inspired to help, just give me a call.
