Three Important Teams: The Long Range Planning Committee,
The Church Council, and The Pastor Search Committee

In recent days three important groups have or will start to work. The Deacons have recommended that The Long Range Planning Committee be reactivated. This committee will evaluate and research many things including our church, community, and trends. They will seek ways to revitalize programs and ministries and recommend areas to our church leadership. They will do a lot of their work over the next 8 -10 months in examining where we are at, where we have been, and what we may need in the future. They will work with our new pastor when he comes on board. The committee members are: Patrick Daugherty (Chairman), Darrell Campbell, Nathan Campbell, Tina Kitchens, Shannon Johnson, Larry Sewell, Jim Spinks, Kendra White, and Angela Whitt.

The Deacons have also recommended that The Church Council be reactivated and that its members be updated to include new and key church leaders. They also are recommending that the church council be changed to a committee like our other church committees and ministry teams, so that as the church changes and leadership and ministries are added, the committee structure can change without having to change the Constitution and church By-laws. A letter explaining the change was sent out church-wide in early November and the recommendation will be discussed and voted on Wednesday, December 9 at 6:15 pm in the chapel during a special called business meeting. The proposed church budget for 2016 will also be presented along with the 2016 Committees and Ministry Teams.

Finally, The Pastor Search Committee is at work and also needs our prayers. The committee consists of: Eddy Garner (Chairman), Kathy Austin, Charlotte Cramer, Kyle Green, Chad Hess, Bill Inskeep, and Jason Lenz.

I am encouraged and confident that as the Council and Committees work in the coming months, the Lord will guide and direct Woodmont for the days to come.

Under His grace,

Steve

I hope you will join us for this multi-media presentation. In addition to some glorious music, our choir and orchestra members will share personal testimonies, thoughts, and memories of Christmas. I think it will warm your heart and put you in just the right spirit for the weeks to come.

Merry Christmas, Woodmont family. And to quote one of our concert numbers...

"May you find the season and wishes keep you warm,
Make forever memories and laugh through every storm;
Every mother, every daughter, every father, every son--
God bless us everyone."

Game Day Thurs. Dec. 3

Thank You Note Thanks to everyone who made the Thanksgiving Baskets a huge success this year. We assembled 200 baskets of food, including a ham, to many of our less fortunate families in our area. We enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by Ray Frens after the packing Friday night. Saturday morning all of the Baskets were delivered. Redeemer Lutheran Church partnered with us and provided some resources to help pay for the food and some of their members to help deliver the Baskets.
