REMINDER: May 26 is
now a regular school day

Monday, May 26 is now a regular school day in Dickinson ISD to make up the missed school day on Tuesday, January 28 due to winter storm advisories and the threat of hazardous driving conditions.

Because the make-up day  is Memorial Day, a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces, each campus will hold a program to commemorate the day and to honor the sacrifice of or service men and women. Information about the programs on each campus will be posted on the DISD website later in May and parents are invited to attend the events on their child's campus.

Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE)

Eight of the nine Dickinson High School students participating in the State Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) earned Gold Medals in April. Those recognized with Gold Medals include Faith Aguilera, Miguel Rojas, Elizabeth Murillo, Yasmin Trejo, Chrissy Maxwell, Nikki Petron, Dallas Feazell and Kaitlyn Hayes. Faith Aguilera won the highest honor possible with her watercolor being named as part of the Gold Seal Exhibit. Her artwork will travel throughout Texas this year to be displayed at various venues, ending up at the Texas Art Educators Conference in November.

VASE is a highly regarded, statewide art competition for high school students. It is sponsored by the Texas Art Educators Association (TAEA) and is the equivalent to UIL competitions in any other activity or sport since UIL does not sponsor art in a competitive manner.
