The "Lighted Windows Will Open Doors" program is an ongoing afterschool resource for Dickinson High School students needing extra help with academic core subject areas. The program, which has been in place for several years, is held every Tuesday and Thursday night from 5-8 p.m. in the Dickinson High School Library.

Students can bring in their homework questions, projects and study materials and teachers from the core subject areas will be available to offer help. It is also an opportunity to form study groups, receive practice in taking SAT, ACT STAAR and EOC tests, or use the technology in the library for research.

No food or drinks are allowed in the library facility. For more information, contact Sharon Neves at 281-229-6956.

Barber students make presentation

at Rockwell Automation Conference

Barber students at automation conferenceSeveral Barber Middle School students on the Advanced Engineering Team presented in November at the Rockwell Automation Conference. The students used their public speaking skills as they demonstrated their robot and shared information about the robotics programs in Dickinson ISD.

The president of the robotics program, FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), spent a great deal of time with the students and was very impressed with their innovative design. He encouraged the students to submit an entry for the Innovation Award.

The public is invited to come out and see the innovative work happening in the robotics programs at Dickinson ISD campuses at the FLL Qualifier Match and EARLY Fall Competition scheduled for 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, December 14 at Dickinson High School.
