McAdams students take to the fashion
runway to model literary term t-shirts
What do literary terms and t-shirts have in common? Well, at McAdams Junior High decorated t-shirts are helping students learn the meanings to different literary terms.
The school-wide assignment was done through the school's language arts classes. Students chose a literary term and had to illustrate it on a shirt in order to help become experts about their literary term and to promote excitement about language arts. On the front of the shirt, students wrote their term and drew a picture to illustrate what it means. On the back, students wrote the term and definition. They could then decorate their shirt however they liked.
All students got to model their shirts in a fashion show complete with a runway across the auditorium stage and music in the background.

DHS "Lighted Windows Will Open Doors" program to start September 17 for 2013-2014 school year
The "Lighted Windows Will Open Doors" program will kick off on September 17 as an afterschool resource for Dickinson High School students needing extra help with academic core subject areas. The program, which has been in place for several years, is held every Tuesday and Thursday night from 5-8 p.m. in the Dickinson High School Library.
Students can bring in their homework questions, projects and study materials and teachers from the core subject areas will be available to offer help. It is also an opportunity to form study groups, receive practice in taking SAT, ACT, STAAR and EOC tests, or use the technology in the library for research.
No food or drinks are allowed in the library facility. For more information, contact Sharon Neves at 281-229-6956. |
