Spring football
game set
for May 21
  
The Dickinson High School Athletics Department is having a Spring Football (Blue and White) game at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 21 at Sam Vitanza Stadium. Admission is free and the game is open to the public. Go Gators!

This week, special recognition goes out to Mandy Snelson for referring Faith Rice-Mills, to Dickinson ISD. Faith is the new librarian at Dickinson High School.
Get Ready for Summer...
Several DISD groups planning camps
 
  

Summer break starts in just a few weeks and several Dickinson ISD organizations and sports groups are planning summer camps to provide students with some fun activities. Click here for links to all the athletics camp registration forms/flyers.
 

Dickinson High School Softball Camp

A Dickinson High School Softball Camp is planned for June 10-11 at the DHS Softball Field. Girls entering grades 3-5 attend from 5-7 p.m., followed by those entering grades 6-9 from 7-9 p.m. The camp will include learning fundamentals, offensive and defensive drills and games. Participants will receive a t-shirt. Cost is $50 if postmarked by May 23 or $60 at the field. Junior High Volleyball Camp

A Volleyball Camp will be held for students entering grades 6-8 on June 10-13. The camp is planned from 8:30-11:30 a.m. at Dickinson High School. The cost is $50. For more information, call 281-229-6537.

 

High School Volleyball Camp

A Volleyball Camp will be held for high school students July 29-31 from 8 a.m.-12 noon at Dickinson High School. The camp includes 12 hours of training, position specialty training, team systems, ability grouping, a camp t-shirt and camp awards. Cost is $75.

 

Speed and Strength Camp

A Dickinson Speed and Strength Camp is available Monday-Thursday, June 17-August 1 (except for the week of July 4). The camp will be held either from 8-10 a.m. or 4-6 p.m. at the field house. Cost is $40. Junior high and high school athletes are welcome to participate and work on team building, leadership, coordination, flexibility, endurance, strength, agility and speed. Gator Basketball Coed Camp

A Gator Basketball Coed Camp will be held May 20-24 at the Dickinson High School Gymnasium from 5-7 p.m. for grades K-5 and 5-7:30 p.m. for grades 6-8 and incoming freshman. Cost is $40 ($30 for each additional child in the family).

 

Summer Drama Camp for Kids

The Dickinson High School Drama Department will host a Summer Drama Camp for Kids from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. August 5-9 at DHS. The camp is open to students entering grades K-9. The students will work on the production, "Alice in Wonderland," which will be presented to the public at the end of the week, 1 p.m. August 9 in the DHS auditorium. The camp fee is $100 if postmarked by July 30. Tickets to the performance are $3 each. For more information, click here.

Dickinson Library bookmarks
  
The Mares Memorial Public Library in Dickinson recently held their annual Bookmark Contest where students in grades K-8 were invited to submitted entries for bookmark artwork. The first place winners in each category will have their artwork professionally printed on bookmarks to be distributed to library visitors. They winners included:
  
In the Kindergarten category, first place went to Kyndal Burnam, second to Payton Gibbs and third to Peyton Honicker. They are all students at Bay Colony Elementary.
  
In the First and Second Grade category, second place went to Emma Carden from K.E. Little Elementary and third to Ameah Aguilar from San Leon Elementary.
  
In the Third and Fourth Grade Category, first place went to Cameron Cauley from Bay Colony Elementary, second to Nathan Johnson from K.E. Little Elementary and third to Monica Perez from Bay Colony Elementary.
  
In the Fifth and Sixth Grade Category, first place went to Dezarrae Petteway from Dunbar Middle School, second to Carolyn Richards from Barber Middle School and third to Hope Lee from Dunbar Middle School.
  
In the Seventh and Eighth Grade Category, first place went to Isabella Atkins, second to Hanh Mai and third to Sheyla Pham. They are all student at McAdams Junior High.
DHS SADD group donates more than 400 books to Special Programs Department

Special Programs students have more than 400 books to keep them busy reading after the Dickinson High School Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD) group, under the leadership of sponsor Jenna Lussier, came up with the idea to do a book drive in recognition of National Youth Service Day last month. Some of the SADD students are pictured below with the book donations.
