She was joined by fellow softball players Summer Groholski from Grapeland and Jennifer Hooker from Katy.

DHS Congressional Debate Team invited to Texas State Capitol competition
The Dickinson High School Congressional Debate Team members were in Austin last week to participate in a debate competition at the Texas State Capitol. They were nine of only 150 students from across Texas invited to participate in the competition. The opportunity to compete against past national champion winners allowed them to learn a lot of valuable information.
In addition, DHS Debate Coach Cheri Van Sant arranged an hour-long meeting with Representative Bill Callegari from Katy, who authored House Bill 85 to limit the end of course testing. The students had done extensive research on the bill so the meeting with the representative who authored it was invaluable for the students.
The nine DHS debaters attending the competition are pictured below at the Texas State Capitol. They include Matthew Huvar, Gabby Bernal, Chris Trautman, Angelica Ramirez, Madison Gove, Connor Ard, Marshall Kettler, Anna Novak and Evan Snyder.

DHS Law Enforcement Club presents Protect a Child program at K.E. Little
The Dickinson High School Law Enforcement Club visited K.E. Little Elementary recently to present the Protect a Child program that the club students built, named and implemented.
The Law Enforcement Club students went to the kindergarten and first grade classrooms and were able to do fingerprinting and take saliva DNA samples in a kit. These kits were all personalized with the student's personal information and picture. The kits were sent home with the students so that parents have them to provide to law enforcement with essential information about the students in case their child is ever missing. The students were able to provide kits to 200 students through fundraising and a grant from the Dickinson ISD Education Foundation.
The club students also put together "activity packets" regarding law enforcement and personal safety. The DHS Law Enforcement Club would like to continue the program by taking it to different elementary schools in future years. The club is led by President Gabriella Salas and Vice President Glen Davenport. Teacher sponsor is DHS Criminal Justice Instructor Jenna Lussier.
