Paws for Tales Needs You
We are seeking volunteer-dog teams to participate in our Paws for Tales program. All dogs must have their CGC (Canine Good Citizen) or be Delta certified. To learn more about volunteering for this program with your dog, please contact Terri Hancock, humane education manager, at (630) 420-8989 ext. 117 or via email. Our Paws for Tales program will motivate many children to improve their reading skills. The human-animal bond is very powerful. Interaction with the dog and his unconditional love and limitless patience, is an experience that can not be described. Positive effects have been observed even on the very first reading session with the dog. |
Adoption Promotion: My Furry Valentine
Our My Furry Valentine adoption promotion is Saturday, February 1, through Sunday, February 16. The adoption fee for any dog or cat (and puppy or kitten) will be just $14!
Check out all our cats and dogs online or stop in and visit our furry friends today!

Fundraising and Event Volunteer Opportunities
If you, or someone you know, loves to plan events, network around the community, and has a passion for raising awareness and funds to support NAHS, we have just the opportunities for you!
Volunteer Fundraising Committee: This committee meets once a month, and focuses on bringing awareness to the community about NAHS while raising crucial funds throughout the year to support various projects around the shelter. We are looking for volunteers to help with a variety of tasks, from helping at events during the year, to making calls or sending emails, as well as helping with publicity.
Putts for Pets Committee: Our annual golf outing, to be held July 28th, meets once a month and focuses on selling foursomes, securing auction packages, and assisting NAHS staff with corporate sponsorship outreach. We are looking for dedicated volunteers who are comfortable with these types of outreach to join our committee.
Black Cat Ball Committee: Our annual gala, to be held in October, meets once a month and focuses on selling tickets, securing auction packages and assisting NAHS staff with corporate sponsorship outreach. We are looking for dedicated volunteers who are comfortable with these types of outreach to join our committee.
If you are interested in learning more about these events and committees, or would like to join, please contact Ellie Stefanic at (630) 420-8989 x114 or via email.
We are also looking for families interested in fostering, volunteers interested in learning about our Pet Therapy program, and daily shelter volunteers. To find out about these programs and more, visit our website.
