Bella

Bella, previously Houdini, came to NAHS as a kitten.  It wasn't long for her to find her forever home with the Nies family.  They renamed her Bella and they say that now, at 8 months of age, she has been a wonderful addition to their family.  She gets along great with older kitty sister, Zena, and has wormed her way into everyone's heart.   She loves to snuggle and play with her glitter balls.  She also likes the shower and has a strange obsession with the blow dryer!

A perfect match made for Bella and the Nies Family!

Virtual Adopt-A-Thon Going On Now

virtual adopt-a-thonThe eighth annual Virtual Adopt-A-Thon is underway and we are halfway to our goal!  We have 4 newcomers that have just joined.  Check out Frisky Business representing the homeless cats at the shelter, Ozzie & Harriet representing the shelter dogs, Daisy one of our Paws for Tales dogs and Corky, a pet therapy dog.  You can also visit all of our human supporters who have put themselves up for adoption in our Virtual Shelter to help raise money for NAHS. You can donate to your favorite human or one of our new furry friends by choosing to provide him or her with things like treats and toys, a pet bed, a flea dip or even choose to adopt!

The money raised from this event will go directly to the animals, allowing us to help more cats and dogs, therefore, saving more lives. It will allow us to continue to offer high quality care to our homeless pets making them more comfortable while they are at the shelter. It will also support our humane education programs that teach children to care for and protect all living things. Click here to visit our Virtual Adopt-a-thon page.

NAHS Human Race Team Growing  The Human Race logo

Naperville Area Humane Society has formed a team to participate in the 2nd Annual Human Race! Join TEAM NAHS as we walk and run to find a better home, a better life and a better future for our four-legged friends!

NAHS will be among several local non-profit organizations joining the Human Race, a 5K Run/2 mile Fitness Walk. The Race takes place on Saturday, April 27 at the Esplanade at Locust Point in Downers Grove and begins at 9 AM.  Pets, strollers and wheelchairs are welcome on the fitness walk!

Last year, NAHS raised over $7,000 and this year our goal is $10,000!  And you can help us get there!  Funds raised this year will be used to make renovations to the cat intake and treatment room at the shelter.  The funds from last year were used to pay for the beautiful renovations in the kitchen and laundry room.

Register online by April 23, 2013 to receive the lowest registration fee of $30 for walkers and $35 for runners.  Click here and register at the very top of our Human Race page!  Be sure to choose NAHS as your non-profit of choice.  If you can't participate, but still want to support Team NAHS click the link above and donate at the bottom of the page.

Honor or Memorialize Your Pet with a Brick Paver

Our Pavers for Pets project is an opportunity for you to leave a lasting imprint of your support for NAHS.   Purchase a paving brick to be engraved with your name, a pet's name, a friend or family member, or a club or organization.

The brick patio is located on the west side of the shelter between the front and side doors.  It was originally installed last May as an Eagle Scout project.  Each spring, Zach Cosenza, the Eagle Scout who planned the project, has agreed to install new engraved bricks.

You can choose a 4' X 8" brick for $100 or a 8" X 8" brick for $200.  For 2013, we are accepting orders until May 31, 2013.   To receive an order form via email, click here or stop into the shelter.
