NAHS Virtual Adopt-a-thon
It's that time of year, the 8th Annual Virtual Adopt-a-thon is here! This is when our human supporters put themselves up for adoption in our "virtual shelter" to raise much needed funds for our shelter pets.
The Virtual Adopt-a-thon will feature descriptions of our human adoptees similar to those of our shelter dogs and cats. Then visitors to our website will be able to view the adoptees and make donations to "adopt" or "care for" our adoptable humans at the "virtual shelter". You can participate in two ways.
First, you can sign up to be a "virtually adoptable human". It is an easy registration process and we will give you instructions on how to create your profile. When the Virtual Adopt-a-thon kicks off on February 1st, send an email to your friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, colleagues, basically everyone in your email address book, letting them know they can adopt you. We will provide you a sample letter, including a link to our website. You can sign up and get going anytime in February, but the earlier the better. Sign up to be a virtual adoptee here.
Second, you can "adopt" or "care for" any of our virtual adoptees by donating to your favorite human. Check out their pictures and profiles and choose the one you like best!
Either way, it is a fun, easy way to raise money for our homeless cats and dogs, helping NAHS to save more lives!

The 2nd Annual Human Race
Join the NAHS Team at the 2nd Annual Human Race on Saturday, April 27, at 9 a.m. This year the race will be located at the Esplanade at Locust Point in Downers Grove.
It is a 5K for runners and a 2 mile fitness walk for walkers. Dogs are welcome on the walking route! You can sign up to support NAHS and help us raise funds for our shelter. Last year we raised over $7,000 and this year we hope to hit $10,000. And we can do it with your help! All funds will go to renovations at the shelter that will make it easier to provide high-quality care for our animals.
Registration is now open and the entry fee is $30 for walkers and $35 for runners if you register online by April 23, 2013. To register, click here! Offline registration is $5 higher per category and event day registration is $10 higher per category. So sign up now and make sure to indicate you are supporting NAHS!
If you can't participate, but want to support Team NAHS, visit our fundraising page and donate today! For more information on the Human Race, click here.
