Phoebe aka Lilly

Phoebe came to NAHS in April of this year from one of our transfer partners in Oklahoma.  At six years old, she soon became a favorite among the staff and volunteers.  Thankfully it did not take long for someone else to fall in love, as she was adopted within two weeks of arriving at NAHS.

Phoebe's new family sent in this photo just days ago sharing that she had a fabulous Thanksgiving with her new family and that she was now taking advantage of the Black Friday online sales!

Her new family also shared that Phoebe makes friends wherever she goes and is well-loved among their neighbors and family.

Volunteers Lead Change
We are proud to share that thanks to a group of dedicated volunteers NAHS' kitchen and laundry room have gotten a much needed renovation.

Earlier this year the Volunteer Fundraising Committee made it their mission to raise the funds necessary to complete the renovations.  The committee lead NAHS' participation in the Giving DuPage Human Race this past April raising more than $7,000 towards the renovations.  In addition to this group of amazing fundraising volunteers, several individual donors contributed funds to ensure this project could be completed.

Once the funds were raised, next came the task of planning out the renovations.  Thankfully another dedicated volunteer, Rob Benson, stepped forward to lead this part of the project.  Through Rob's leadership, several local businesses stepped in to help with the project.  Thank you to the following businesses for their contributions:
  • Modular Installations & Design - demolition and installation manpower
  • Lellbach Builders - demolition and installation manpower
  • Q's Cabinet Shoppe - design expertise and product discounts
  • Select Surfaces and Cambria USA - countertop discount
  • J.C. Licht of Downers Grove - donated paint
  • Blue Ribbon Paint and Decorating - paint manpower
  • ML Matthews - discounted delivery services
We invite you to visit the shelter and see the renovations made possible by our amazing volunteers!  Also, the Volunteer Fundraising Committee is always looking for new members. If you are interested in joining this passionate group of people, please email Nancy Swantek, NAHS volunteer.
