Sparky

Sparky first came to NAHS in August 2008 at the age of 5 because of a new baby in the family. Within weeks, he was adopted but was found as a stray just three months later and, when contacted, the adopter did not want Sparky back. So Sparky waited two months before being adopted again. Just five months later, Sparky was back at NAHS; apparently he had some housetraining issues. Again, Sparky waited for someone with the patience to teach him how to be a good dog in the house and the energy to walk him regularly. Finally, in August 2009, Sparky found his forever home with the Baich family. The family reports Sparky is a very loyal companion and even became physically ill when dad had to spend some time in the hospital; Sparky sat at the window day and night crying for dad to come home. We wish the Baich family and Sparky many more years of love and companionship!

    Ralphie

Ralphie was one of several kittens who came to NAHS in July 2011 after being found as strays in Aurora. He developed a reputation as a biter so finding the perfect family for Ralphie was a priority. In September 2011, the Welch family came in looking for a kitten and immediately fell in love with Ralphie. After talking with animal care staff about Ralphie's reputation for biting and the importance of keeping an eye on him when Ralphie was around their little girl,  they decided to take Ralphie home. A year later, the Welches report Ralphie's reputation was unfounded. Not only does he not bite, he and their little girl play, nap and eat together as well as share LOTS of kisses as demonstrated in the photo above. We are so glad the Welch family took a chance on Ralphie and that he showed what a wonderful cat he could be when given a loving home.

Spring the Juvies
Kittens-available for adoption
It's that time of year again - the kitten room is full so kittens in foster care aren't able to get back to the shelter for adoption before they become adults! In order to give all the kittens and young adults a chance to find a home, NAHS is holding a "Spring the Juvies" promotion. From November 1 - 12, all kittens and young cats, ages 4 months to 1 year are available for an all-time low fee of $25! If you've been thinking about adding a young feline or two to your family, NOW is the time!

All members of the family must meet the kittens and talk with an animal care technician to make sure it's a good match. Staff are always available to answer any questions.

Before going home, all cats (and dogs) are spayed or neutered, current on all vaccinations, microchipped and have a collar and ID tag. Cats are tested for feline leukemia/FIV and dogs are heartworm tested and treated if needed.

Stop by the shelter today and "Spring the Juvies!"
