Prediabetes:
A growing workforce issue with serious health and cost conseqences

Prediabetes written on a book. Medical concept.
1 in 3 U.S. Adults has prediabetes.
Most don't know it.
Prediabetes is a condition in which blood glucose levels are higher than normal, but not high enough to be classified as type 2 diabetes.
Without intervention,  15-30% of people with
prediabetes will develop type 2 diabetes within 5 years.
People with diagnosed diabetes incur on average 2.3 times the medical expenses of comparable people without diabetes. The largest portion of these expenditures is for treatment of complications.

There is Good News!
The National Diabetes Prevention Program is on the Shore

The National Diabetes Prevention Program (National DPP) is a proven lifestyle change program that can help prevent or delay getting type 2 diabetes. It helps people lower their risk by teaching them how to improve food choices and increase physical activity.
How does it work?
  • People work with a trained lifestyle coach in their community or online to learn the skills needed to make lasting lifestyle changes.
