HEALTHIEST MARYLAND BUSINESSES
Mid/Upper Eastern Shore Region

Beat the Pack TM Program offered to Shore Employers
Smoking is the leading preventable cause of death in the US. Despite public awareness of the health dangers of smoking and years of anti-smoking efforts, 1 in 5 Americans still smoke. Most want to quit, but few succeed on their own.

In addition to cessation services offered through local health departments, and Maryland's Quitline 1-800-Quit-Nowbusinesses on the Mid/Upper Shore will have the opportunity to participate in Pfizer's unbranded program called 'Beat the Pack' TM.

'Beat the Pack'TM provides employers with a comprehensive toolkit for implementation of a smoking cessation program. It includes customizable posters to promote the program, sign-up materials, surveys, a facilitator guide, slides for the kick-off presentation and for each of the 4 weekly sessions, monthly handouts and a certificate of achievement. All program materials and leader training are offered at no-cost to the business.

To learn more, please contact Nicole Morris  nicole.morris@maryland.gov ASAP. Interested businesses will be invited to join an informational meeting on September 10th.
