The Road to Oz
Choptank Transport Celebrates in NYC!

As a 'Healthiest Maryland Business', Choptank Transport is pleased to announce the success of its first, year-long wellness program. The employee who made the most significant change in their health was awarded the grand prize- an all-expense paid trip, with guest, to New York City to be a part of the audience during a live taping of the Dr. Oz show, which included meeting Dr. Oz and the cast and crew of the show.

Choptank's wellness program, which kicked off in February 2013, is free to all employees. In addition to monthly meetings and lectures, two nurses from the Caroline County Health Department were on hand to do blood pressure checks, weigh-ins and body/mass-index (BMI) measurements. Although the lectures are over, the health department monthly monitoring schedule continues.

More than twenty employees participated in the first year's classes. Each employee was given a pedometer, a water bottle and a tape measure on their first day. Topics of discussion included the importance of exercise, a healthy diet and ways to reduce stress. Almost every session began with a healthy snack alternative, provided by their wellness coach, Paula Greer. (Greer is one of Dr. Oz's success stories, having lost 86 pounds over the course of a year.)

Choptank Transport is one of the fastest growing third-party logistics companies in the United States. The nationwide company specializes in truckload shipping for both refrigerated and frozen freight as well as dry van, less-than-truckload, and flatbed transportation. Choptank also offers intermodal capabilities and warehousing at its Preston, Maryland location. To learn more about Choptank Transport's Wellness Program, plan to attend the Healthy Business Forum on June 11th at the Tidewater Inn in Easton.
