Doctor! as well as the return of last year's hits - No Bones About It and When Butter Churns to Gold - in rotating repertory with fan favorite, Lumberjacks in Love Release: FISH CREEK, WI - Northern Sky Theater has announced its 2016 musical comedy line up for the Summer in Door County, Wisconsin. This year's world premiere, Doctor! Doctor!, in which a retiring small town physician recruits his young big city nephew to take over his practice, pays tribute to the nostalgic nature of life in Door County where residents reluctantly but humorously adapt to change Writer and composer, Matt Zembrowski, first started attending shows at Northern Sky when he was just 12 years old. Since then, he's dreamt of seeing a musical that he wrote produced on the outdoor stage at Peninsula State Park. "You might say this musical has been 20 years in the making," joked Artistic Director, Jeffrey Herbst. "Now, at age 32, Matt's written a charming new show that we think audiences will love." When Butter Churns to Gold and No Bones About It will both return for a consecutive season, unprecedented in the company's 25-year history. No Bones About It is set in the world of competitive barbecue and is the sixth offering from the Richard Rogers award-winning writing team of Dave Hudson and Paul Libman. When Butter Churns to Gold, written by Peter Welkin, Ron Barnett, and Randi Wolfe, allows for plenty of audience interaction and is performed in the very tongue-in-cheek style of an old-fashioned melodrama. "It's rare that we are able to run four shows in the summer," stated Artistic Director, Jeffrey Herbst. "We typically run just three shows, but we felt it was important to bring both of our new shows back to the stage since they were so well received this past summer." Lumberjacks in Love, by Fred Alley and James Kaplan, celebrates its 20th Anniversary in 2016 with a return to the woods after a crowd-pleasing fall run at the Door Community Auditorium. Northern Sky's Summer Season runs from June 15th - August 27th at the Peninsula State Park Amphitheater in Fish Creek, WI. There is no park sticker required to attend performances. The company's fall season, performance schedule and casting will be announced early in 2016. Tickets for both the summer and fall season will go on sale April 1st in the Northern Sky box office at the Green Gables shops in north Ephraim, via phone at (920) 854-6117, and online at www.NorthernSkyTheater.com.
Northern Sky Theater is a non-profit professional theater organization that produces original musical shows in repertory from June through August. Northern Sky continues its performances into the fall with shows at the Door Community Auditorium September through October and over the Christmas holidays in local town halls.
