McCoy and Gorchynsky join American Folklore Theatre Board of Directors, Feldman named Director of Development & Public Relations

 

Facts:   American Folklore Theatre announces the addition of two community leaders, Michael J. McCoy and Dr. George Gorchynsky, to the AFT Board of Directors.

Mike McCoy is a retired Executive VP and CFO from Hormel Foods Corporation in Austin, MN and also a Certified Public Accountant.  He presently serves on the Board of Directors of Wartburg College in Waverly Iowa and chairs their Business and Finance Committee.  In addition to AFT, he also serves on the Board of the Door County Community Foundation.  Mike and his wife, Marge, live in Ellison Bay.    

 

"Our family has enjoyed AFT for the last 15 years.  We appreciate the productions, the setting, and that AFT provides great family entertainment," stated McCoy. "AFT is the activity of choice for our grandchildren whenever they come to Door County."

 

An Emergency Room Physician for over 25 years, Dr. George Gorchynsky is currently Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Ministry Door County Medical Center as well as the Medical Director for the Emergency Medical Services of Door County. He was elected as the 2014 President of the Medical Staff at MDCMC.

 

"My wife, Natalie, our two children and I have been active volunteers at American Folklore Theatre for nearly 20 years. I'm honored to have the opportunity to serve on the Board of AFT," stated Gorchynsky.

 

Dave Maier, AFT's Managing Director adds, "Mike and George are perfect compliments to an already incredibly active and supportive Board. We're very blessed to be able to add their unique and valuable perspectives and counsel to the mix."

 

In addition, Board Member Tom Moore will take over the Treasurer position for retiring Board Member, Tim Stone. Moore, of Deerfield, IL, is the owner of Parkwood Chicago, Inc., a family owned distributorship of architectural products, established in 1956. Moore graduated from Missouri Valley College where he majored in mathematics and attended graduate school at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Active in various business and community groups, Moore is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Missouri Valley College as well as an adult volunteer with the BSA/Boy Scouts of America.
 
"My love of AFT goes back to the 1970's when our family first attended a performance in the park by the Heritage Ensemble," stated Moore.  A devoted patron and sponsor of AFT ever since, he and his wife Kathie and their family consider themselves blessed to be part of AFT and able to share time "under the stars" in Door County.  

 

American Folklore Theatre has also named Holly Feldman to the new position of Director of Development and Public Relations. Feldman has served for the last four years as the Manager of Marketing and Audience Development at AFT. Ann Birnschein, AFT's current Office Manager and Volunteer Coordinator, will assume the role of Marketing Director while maintaining her responsibilities for volunteer coordination.

 

American Folklore Theatre is a non-profit professional theatre organization that produces original musical shows in repertory from June through August.  AFT continues its performances into the fall with shows at the Door Community Auditorium and town halls September through October and over the Christmas holiday.
