Dirty Diggin' Fun
The Inside "Scoop": How to talk like a REAL Operator

Where's the roach coach? Just like in any other business, construction workers have their very own words and phrases that are used on jobsites all over the country... and I'm not just talking about the foul language that one might associate with those of us who work in the dirt for a living!  Here's a brief lesson in  some funny construction terms and slang -- you're guaranteed to laugh out loud at a few of 'em! If you've got others that are clean enough to share, post 'em on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/peopleatplay.

BRAIN BUCKET: Hard hat
DIRT WRENCH: broom
FLEX BENDER or PIPE STRETCHER: imaginary object used to confuse newbies (i.e. "Go get that pipe stretcher out of the truck.")
HOE: slang for a backhoe or excavator
HONEY BUCKET: porta-potty (also referred to as "blue lagoon" and many other names we just can't mention here)
HONEY SUCKER: truck that cleans out the porta-potties
ROACH COACH:  coffee/lunch truck that visits a job site (also referred to as Gaggin' Wagon, Garbage Truck, Gut Truck and Gut Wagon)
ROCK BANJO: shovel
RUN: to operate heavy equipment proficiently, safely and productively
TIRED IRON: old piece of heavy equipment that no longer runs
