Wow.. how time flies... I originally attempted to get this newsletter out to you in March of this year (when Bennett Contracting celebrated nine years of being in business). At that time it was going to be the Spring issue, because we know spring has 'sprung' here at the shop when these beautiful flowers come to life virtually overnight in our parking area. (But since then, the summer heat has melted them away to nothing!)  Sorry that we've been on an un-official hiatus here at Diggin' It, but you know how things go! Hope you enjoy this issue!

BENNETT INSTALLS 25,000 GALLON TANK AT RINGLING COLLEGE ACADEMIC BUILDING
 Cistern1
Last week Bennett Contracting installed what is believed to be one of the largest cisterns in the Sarasota area for the Ringling College of Art & Design Academic Building, a LEED project being constructed by Willis A. Smith Construction.

Here are some FUN facts about the cistern...

- It is 10' 6" in diameter
- It is 38' 9" long
- It weighs approximately 30,000 lbs.
- It is tied down by 4 concrete deadmen which are each 3' x 3' x 20' and weigh 30,000 lbs. each!
- It will hold 25,000 gallons of re-claimed rain water to be used as clean waste water for the building's restrooms

JOB UPDATE: Where We're Diggin' Now!
Bennett Contracting is working on the Uihlein Campus of The Out of Door Academy in Lakewood Ranch for Willis A. Smith Construction. We are currently working on two phases there: the Athletic Fields (baseball and tennis courts) and a new campus building that is slated to open for the new school year this August. Additionally, we have recently been awarded the site and utility contract for the Bobcat Trail Community Center, in North Port. General Contractor for this project is Manasota Commercial Construction.

Work is progressing quickly at the City of Sarasota Police Station Headquarters begin built by KRAFT Construction and at the West Jail Sallyport (also a KRAFT job) where the Bennett team is now doing a second phase demolition for the kitchen and laundry area.
"MORE RECIPES, PLEASE!" YOU ASKED FOR IT, YOU GOT IT, NATE!
We had such a positive response to our holiday recipes that we wanted to share one with you per issue... somehow I've got you all fooled that I'm some sort of cook! Ha ha, that is funny! We'll try to keep them easy so that if you're like me, you can actually do 'em! This first recipe was named by one of our Diggin' It! readers as "Breakfast Awesomeness!" It's a delicious casserole that feeds a group for a brunch party... so invite some friends over and make one or just make plans to join us at the house for our Sarasota Marathon party next February!

Breakfast Awesomeness Casserole
1/2 pound sliced bacon
1/2 cup chopped yellow onion
1/2 cup chopped green pepper (optional)
12 eggs
1 cup milk
1 (16 oz) package frozen hash brown potatoes, thawed
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

In a large skillet, cook bacon over medium heat until crisp. Remove to paper towels; drain, reserving 2 tablespoons of drippings. Crumble bacon and set aside. In same skillet, saute onion and green pepper in drippings until tender, remove with a slotted spoon.

In a large bowl, whisk the eggs and milk. Stir in hash browns, cheese, salt, pepper, cayenne, onion mixture and bacon.

Transfer mix to a greased 13" x 9" x 2" glass baking dish. Bake, uncovered at 350 degrees for 35 - 45 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
Have a great summertime and we'll be back in touch with you again soon (notice I'm not committing to a date)!

Sincerely,

Alisa Bennett
