Researchers uncover allergy-cancer connection
A new study demonstrated that histamine induces the activation, survival and proliferation of myeloid derived suppressor cells (MDSCs), which help promote tumor growth by suppressing the immune system. By blocking the production of histamine in animal models, the researchers were able to interrupt a process that promotes melanoma growth.

Scientists pinpoint protein that could improve small cell lung cancer therapies
Researchers discovered that the expression of a protein called Noxa is critical to the effectiveness of the drug ABT-737 because it helps regulate the function of MCL-1, a pro-survival Bcl-2 family protein.
