Gaylord students recognized at Campus Awards ceremony
|
The Campus Awards Program, scheduled at the end of the spring semester, held a ceremony Friday, April 17, at the Donald W. Reynolds Performing Arts Center to recognize outstanding undergrads on campus. Gaylord students accepted 18 awards at the ceremony, including the campus-wide Fern L. Holland Award. This particular award is only presented to one full-time collegiate woman who shows dedication to making a positive change in the world. To be considered for the award, the student must be nominated. This year, Gaylord public relations junior Sarah Johnson stood out among all the other nominees, which is a rare honor. Gaylord students won awards in seven categories this year, including two from Gaylord students at the end of their first year. Congratulations to all Campus Awards Program winners!

MAKING A LIVING AS A WRITER is how to get going as a professional writing books and movies. The class is likely to touch on magazines and the web, briefly.
This class focuses on issues like what the financial prospects are in each area, what the customary business practices are, whether to start publishing books traditionally or digitally, how to get entry into the biz, what agents, editors, and producers actually do, what's in contracts and what to watch out for in them, how book production works (movie production is too complicated to get into), how to do social marketing, and more.
Not a course on how to write but a course on how to become an established pro.
There will be reading to do in advance and a booklet to write after class. |
