2015 Spring Internship Oklahoma Film & Music Office

The Oklahoma Film & Music Office (OF&MO) is now accepting applications for the 2015 Spring Internship Program. OF&MO will provide selected interns with an understanding of the film and music industries in Oklahoma by involving them in diverse projects throughout the spring semester. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience or enthusiasm in film, music, public relations or marketing for specialized projects. Interns will be selected based on previous experience, poise and university level. Priority will be given to those in their junior or senior year. Previous office experience and/or phone etiquette a plus. POSITION DETAILS Intern responsibilities will include researching and compiling film and music events throughout Oklahoma for our website, and drafting and editing our weekly newsletter, This Week in Film & Music. Chosen candidates will gain valuable experience in the development of OF&MO's Production Guide, Locations Guide and Music Guide by assisting in research and data input. Interns will also support the office by locating and archiving press articles, conducting research on local talent, assisting with marketing inventory and/or other various special projects. Interns may be given the opportunity to participate in locations scouting or volunteer for special events sponsored by OF&MO. Assistance with general office opening and closing duties is required and expected on a daily basis. Internships are not production based. All internships are unpaid and open to those seeking college credit toward graduation. It is the responsibility of the intern and the student's advisor to track their hours and complete all enrollment and coursework requirements in accordance to their college or university. Internships are based in downtown Oklahoma City.

Collegiate Correspondent USA Today

USA Today is proud to announce that students can now apply to participate as a writing, visual or study abroad correspondent.
The Collegiate Correspondent Program is a semester-long program. Content produced by participants in the Collegiate Correspondent Program is published across USA TODAY and Gannett's digital platforms, including our new college-specific app.
Participants in the writing program will conduct original reporting from the perspective of a college student. Participants in the visual program will produce weekly singles and be responsible for a semester-long multimedia project. Participants in the study abroad program will will pitch, research and write bi-weekly stories centered around study abroad topics in their city/country.
All participants will benefit from Q&A sessions with prominent USA TODAY reporters, editors and photographers.
The application for the spring Collegiate Correspondent Program is currently open and will close on Tuesday, November 11.

KGOU has an immediate opening for a Student Employee: Operations Assistant for Calendars.
This position will gather, write for the web and for broadcasts and produce audio announcements for the daily public service programming on KGOU Radio, as well as other production assignments.
The hours are flexible during business hours, Monday through Friday; this position is under the supervision of the KGOU Operations Director. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required skills are: excellent speaking voice, good writing skills, good organizational skills, and excellent journalistic judgment, plus computer skills. Preferred skills are college courses or other training in journalism, audio production, writing, interviewing, reporting and excellent journalistic judgment. An interest in a journalism career is helpful.
Must be currently enrolled in the Fall 2014 term as a student in good standing at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status. Must attach a Fall schedule. Because this search is so late in the Fall 2014 semester, we are looking for a candidate who is qualified for the student position in Spring 2015 as well.

KTUL, in Tulsa, Oklahoma is seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated Account Executive to sell commercial advertising time to local businesses and advertising agencies. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, an enthusiastic and passionate personality, have a tenacious yet empathetic attitude, and a drive to succeed! They are currently looking for candidates with sales experience, preferably in media sales. Employment will include a training program in Baltimore, MD. Job responsibilities are included, but not limited to: Client Relations: Responsible for generating revenue for the station and meeting monthly goals through effective solicitations, promotions and services including telephone, in-person and email communication. Develop new business through selling commercial advertising time and other station products by contacting advertising agencies and local advertisers.
Professionally formatted and written documents, including emails, are a must! Contribute to client proposals and other client documentation. Maintain and build positive customer relationships. Document all client contact and file all advertisement documentation. Handle confidential information with discretion. Initiate, follow-up and conclude assignments accurately and independently. Assist in the collection of past due accounts. Advertising: Create advertising strategies incorporating TV and digital media. Create short- and long-term client campaign plans. Develop advertising concepts and ideas. Prepare, negotiate and implement client media buys. Keep current on all of the company's digital advertising products. Understand demographic and psychographic data as it relates to media buys. General administrative tasks as needed.
Reports directly to the Local Sales Manager. Experience: Strong organizational, written and presentation skills. Competitive, energetic and self-starter. Ability to overcome objections. Outside media sales experience preferred but not required. Enjoy a fast paced environment with a desire to win. Professional appearance a must. Must have own vehicle, a valid driver's license and auto insurance and a good driving record. Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Advertising, Communication, or related field preferred. Required: Handle outside sales calls Prospect customers and lead generation. Attract and close advertisers to sell products and services via TV. Provide input on sales promotion ideas to sales management Retain current business and develop new business contacts Present marketing/advertising ideas to area businesses. Medicine Talk
The Medicine Talk Internship Program offers students a unique blend of hands-on professional training and professional readiness coaching for college credit.
Under the guidance of an intern coach, interns work on real-world projects within their designated field. These projects will challenge the intern's classroom knowledge, foster creativity and encourage the development of advanced, quick problem solving skills.
In addition, Medicine Talk interns participate in one-on-one and group coaching sessions that teach professional skills rarely covered in a classroom setting. Coaching sessions and topics are developed according to each student's unique interests and goals, however some popular topics are the importance of organic networking, confidence boosting for networking, professional etiquette, navigating office landscapes and coaching for entrepreneurial endeavors.

2015 Journalism Fellowship Fellowships at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics Deadline: January 6
 FASPE Journalism, a component of a larger program that works in several professional fields, uses the conduct of reporters and other media professionals during the Holocaust and in Nazi Germany as a launching point for an intensive course of study on journalism ethics. FASPE is predicated upon the power of place, and in particular the first-hand experience of visiting Auschwitz and traveling through Germany and Poland where Fellows study the past, connecting to it in ways that no classroom-based course can, and consider how to apply the lessons of history as they confront the ethical challenges of their profession today. Fellowships include travel from New York to Berlin, Krakow, and Oświęcim (Auschwitz), where Fellows work with leading faculty to explore ethics and history. Seminars will cover topics such as: balancing the cost and benefits of access; the chal-lenges of fact-checking crime victims; the implications of new technology on journalism ethics; and the role of journalists in creating and remembering the historical narrative. Ten to 15 journalists early in their career and graduate students planning to work as journalists will be chosen to participate in the 2015 trip, which will run from Sunday, May 24 to Thursday, June 4. Fellowships cover all program costs, including international and European travel, lodging, and food. To apply or to learn more about FASPE visit: www.FASPE.info.  Our client, in the advertising and custom web development market, is seeking a WordPress programmer with backend expertise and, ideally, design experience to enhance their growing digital department.
This position is responsible for developing and executing WordPress themes and managing multiple design and web projects simultaneously. Ideal candidate will work closely with the digital marketing director and marketing team. This is an open ended contract opportunity with a competitive hourly rate.
Their ideal candidate must be knowledgeable in the latest trends and best practices in print and web design as well as proven web programming skills using HTML5, CSS3 and PHP within the WordPress content management system. The Wordpress Developer must be able to problem solve programming, database and other technical issues related to programming. This is not a front-end programmer position but a true Worpdress Developer, who is well versed in developing custom wordpress themes and plug-ins from the ground up. Drag and drop wordpress experience will not work for this position.
