The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) is a professional organization with the vision to unify, strengthen and advance the public relations profession. PRSA has established itself as the pre-eminent organization that builds value, demand and global understanding for public relations. PRSA is the world's largest organization for public relations professionals. PRSA's nearly 28,000 members, organized into 112 chapters, represent business and industry, technology, counseling firms, government, associations, hospitals, schools, professional services firms and nonprofit organizations. The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) has 270 Chapters at colleges and universities throughout the United States.
The Oklahoma City Chapter of PRSA, chartered in 1964, has approximately 200 members. The organization's primary objectives are to advance the standards of the public relations profession and to provide members with professional development, networking and career growth opportunities, continuing education programs and information exchange forums. As part of its mission, PRSA funds scholarships for PRSSA students pursuing public relations careers.
SCHOLARSHIPS
The Oklahoma City Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America will award two merit-based scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to be used during the 2014-2015 academic year. Funds will be equally disbursed in the fall 2014 and spring 2015 semesters.
QUALIFICATIONS
To qualify for scholarship, you must be:
A PRSSA member in good standing
Pursuing a public relations degree full-time (enrolled in at least 12 hours)
A sophomore or junior (or a senior planning to be in school for an additional year) at a four-year
Oklahoma college or university
Scholarship selection will be based on aptitude, interest in the public relations field, academic performance and demonstration of community service. The winner will be honored at the PRSA OKC Upper Case Award Banquet and Annual Meeting in October 2014 in Oklahoma City.
INSTRUCTIONS
Thoroughly complete the attached application, type or print clearly, and include:
* Your most recent college transcript.
* Two letters of recommendation from people who have witnessed your academic or professional communications experience.
* One writing sample of no more than one page, such as a news release or feature article.
* List of community, school and internship activities, including start and finish dates, officer or committee positions held and any community or academic awards.
* A statement of no more than 300 words explaining why you are applying for this scholarship (i.e. why you are studying public relations, your goals for after graduation, etc.) and your involvement
in PRSSA.

DISBURSEMENT
The Oklahoma City Chapter of PRSA will send half of the academic scholarship money to the winner's school before the beginning of the fall 2014 semester and the second half before the beginning of the spring 2015 semester.

Internship Description:
Interns for the Senate Communications Division are responsible for assisting staff with day to day responsibilities, including distribution of news clippings internally, as well as filing and faxing press releases. Interns may also be required to write "form" press releases which require specific information to be entered into a standard template. Interns may also be asked to assist the communications staff during press conferences and other media events. Work hours will be arranged to fit the student's schedule. Morning work hours are preferred.
Criteria for intern applicants with the Senate Communications Division:
Applicants should be able to touch-type, with a net speed of approximately 45 wpm.
Applicants must have good internet skills and be adept at using the internet for research, writing, and emailing press releases.
Applicants will interview for the intern position.
A $100 transportation stipend is provided at the successful completion of the internship.
An internship with the Senate Communications Division will provide students insight as to the relationship between elected officials and the media as well as a first hand look at representative democracy in action. Interested students should have a high interest in government and communications, be responsible and accountable for their work, and behave in a mature and professional manner in the office setting.

Communications Department
The Children's Center, a nonprofit hospital serving children with complex medical and physical disabilities, offers unpaid internships to qualified college juniors and seniors seeking a career in communications (public relations.) Internships should be for academic credit and coordinated through an accredited institution of higher learning and The Children's Center communications department, in accordance with policies and procedures of the Center's human resources department. All interns are subject to the applicable employee standards of the Center, including code of conduct and dress code policies.
Objectives
An intern in the Communications department will be provided an opportunity for practical experience and direct knowledge in an on-the-job situation; to provide an opportunity for the student to work with professionals and receive professional guidance; and to provide the student with a means of exploring vocational interest on a short-term basis. Exposure and/or opportunities will include pitching stories to local/regional print and broadcast journalists, preparing newsletters and social media announcements, and writing and/or editing stories for print and video materials. An emphasis will be placed on candidates with graphic design experience. An intern will be considered as an ambassador of the Center and may be required to represent the hospital by giving tours, making presentations or assisting with fundraising events. The intern's supervisor will be the director of communications who will evaluate the student's performance in accordance with the requirements of the student's institution of higher learning. An intern should be comfortable working in an environment which includes children with various medical and rehabilitative issues.
Requirements
The Children's Center offers internships during fall, spring and summer sessions.
Length of internships may vary, depending on the requirements of the college or university. A brief training session about the hospital's mission and services is required, as well as the completion of signed agreements including student observation forms, privacy policies (HIPPA), and department-related confidentiality of intellectual property that may be observed during the course of the internship. If it is determined that the student is not adequately fulfilling terms or requirements of the Center, the internship may be terminated without notice, subjecting the intern to a loss of college credit, as determined by the institution of higher learning.

The Greater Oklahoma City Chamber is accepting applications for a Media Relations Coordinator. This position is responsible for local media relations, including identifying and acting on media opportunities; responding to media inquiries; coordinating interviews and news conferences when needed; writing press releases; managing media clips; and assisting the Content Marketing Manager with strategic national media relations programs.
The qualified candidate should have:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism or related field. Minimum two years of experience in public relations or related field. Internship experience will be considered.

Summer 2014 Internships
D Magazine Partners offers a variety of internships each semester. If you are looking to gain invaluable real-world media industry experience, you've come to the right place.
Each internship position is a different learning experience, but nevertheless, what you will gain from working with our company is a roadmap for your future career endeavors.
Working in the media industry is a fast-paced environment. Qualified candidates for our program must be able to work under demanding deadlines in a fast paced environment, as well as possess excellent computer, communication and organizational skills. The D Magazine Partners internship program is highly competitive and our interns are held to a high standard. This program is unpaid.
Candidates must be available to work a minimum of 12 hours a week and commit to the full term of the semester.

Blusource is a corporation that serves the nonprofit community. We do this by providing valuable services to nonprofits. We procure and move excess inventory from corporations to nonprofits. We also provide our nonprofits with low-cost purchased goods to make up for the needs that product donations can't always fill. Duties:Operation of studio and field cameras and related equipment, and associated lighting equipment; maintain and clean studio and prop areas. Serve as Stage Manager during broadcasts. Perform light duty carpentry and other studio maintenance responsibilities. Other duties as assigned, including assisting other departments.
Skills:Thorough working knowledge of TV production including cameras, lighting, microphones, and studio operations. Solid communication and organizational skills. Strong computer skills. Ability to perform well under pressure. Handyman and light carpentry skills a plus.
Hours/Schedule:Part-time,16.5 to 18 hours per week. Primary Schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 4:30pm-11:00pm. Must be very flexible with schedule changes due to holidays, vacations, and sick leave etc.
Education/Experience:High school diploma and 1 year of training or experience in television production required.
Special Requirements: Must have or be able to obtain an Oklahoma Drivers License.
