| After Trayvon wins "Diversity Program of the Month" | |

The "After Trayvon" discussion held Aug. 29 received the "Diversity Program of the Month" from the National Association of Colleges and University Residence Halls for all of Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana and New Mexico.
Congratulations on the great work to Dr. Meta G. Carstarphen, Dr. Owen Kulemeka and Dr. Ralph Beliveau for their work putting together the program.

- All TAs who are non-native speakers of English must obtain certification for the Spring semester by visiting the English Assessment Program office by October 15, 2013. SPEAK tests must be scheduled by Oct. 15, 2013, and TEACH tests will begin the in late October. Register at the Graduate College, ROBT 213 or call 325-1838, or email simperers@ou.edu.

Communications Internship
| DHS Aging Services seeks interns to help with communications projects. These are non-paid internships, however academic credit may be available with approval from the student's academic program. This opportunity provides experience working in a large state agency and networking with communications professionals.
The positions will work on communications activities such as: developing social media and revising web content; a project to inventory, update and develop new publications; and writing press releases, newsletters and articles. Qualifications - Junior or senior pursuing bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, mass communications, journalism or related field
- A minimum of 10 hours a week is preferred
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Knowledge of AP style
- Strong organizational skills
- Able to meet deadlines
- Proficient at MS Office 2010 (Word, Outlook and Excel)
- Understanding of social media and how to use social media as communication and marketing tools

The Muskogee Phoenix, a 12,700-circulation daily newspaper in northeastern Oklahoma, is seeking a general assignment reporter who is energetic, organized, self-motivated and able to work quickly and with precision on deadline.
Job will consist of afternoon and evening assignments Tuesdays through Saturdays. Reporter should be savvy with social media and posses good Internet skills.
The reporter will cover breaking news as well as a variety of assignments including, but not limited to, coverage of the Cherokee and Creek nations.
Journalism or related degree preferred.

The Oklahoma State Department of Education Office of Events is currently seeking qualified individuals for a part-time internship position. This position will serve a key role in supporting the Events office during regional tours, town halls, trainings, conferences and other related projects.
Seeking part-time interns for September-December 2013.
Qualifications:
* Minimum age requirement, 18 years
* September-December, Tuesday & Thursday availability * Outgoing personality * Seeking career in marketing, events, or promotions * Self-starting and detail-oriented * Must be highly motivated and reliable * Ability to work as part of a team * Maintain a flexible schedule with availability on weekends and evenings when needed
*This is an unpaid, part time internship reporting to the Events Coordinator.
