JOB DESCRIPTION

BASIC PURPOSE:The Online Communications Intern will play an active role in the development of Love's online communities.Under the supervision of Love's OnlineCommunications Specialist, the intern will maintain Love's presence on various social media platforms and help create and publish content that is relevant to our customer base. The intern will regularly analyze and report on the activity on our social media networks, as well as Love's website.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Find and create content that is relevant to our customers and post it to our social networks in a manner that invites conversation and interaction.
  • Respond to posts or comments to bring value to a user's interaction with Love's.
  • Assist in creating social media plans to support various business initiatives.
  • Use Google Analytics and Facebook Insights to access trends and activity.
  • Other duties assigned as needed

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Education:
    • HS Diploma or equivalent required
    • Currently enrolled in four year university program (preparation for Bachelor's Degree Communications, Public
    • Relations,Marketing or other related field).
  • Experience:
    • Past Internship experience a plus
    • Familiarity and experience with main stream social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook,Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Yelp, LinkedIn and Google+. 

SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Skills:
    • Hard Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office
    • Soft Skills: Strong time management skills,multi-tasking,can-doattitude,senseof urgency,ability to take constructive criticism and strong work ethic, excellent organizational and planning skills, must have strong ethics, ability to keep confidences, detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to take initiative and work in collaboration
  • Typical Physical Demands:
    • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping
    • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
    • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator

Communications Intern

 

DHS Aging Services seeks interns to help with communications projects. These are non-paid internships, however academic credit may be available with approval from the student's academic program. This opportunity provides experience working in a large state agency and networking with communications professionals.

 

The positions will work on communications activities such as: developing social media and revising web content; a project to inventory, update and develop new publications; and writing press releases, newsletters and articles.

 

Qualifications:

  • Junior or senior pursuing bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, mass communications, journalism or related field
  • A minimum of 10 hours a week is preferred
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Knowledge of AP style
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Able to meet deadlines
  • Proficient at MS Office 2010 (Word, Outlook and Excel)
  • Understanding of social media and how to use social media as communication and marketing tools

The State Chamber is excited to offer an internship program for area college students who are seeking to gain experience in legislative advocacy and communications. We are currently looking for qualified students to fill internship positions in our Government Affairs departments. Interns can hope to gain experience shadowing registered lobbyists, communicating on a statewide level with both business leaders and elected officials, or working on political campaign research and messaging - depending on the position. Interns can also benefit by networking with industry professionals and business leaders.

Public Relations Associate

Student Employee - Graphic Designer

The Union Programming Office is looking for a student intern who is proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign 5/6. The intern must be responsible and able to meet deadlines. This position would be responsible for designing promotional pieces for union events including posters, t-shirts and elements for the Web. The pay is $10 per hour, 15-20 hours per week and may be available for credit. This position offers high volume and variety and is a great way to build a portfolio and get paid.
