Internship - Oklahoma City Thunder
Job position title: Basketball Communications Game Night Representative
The Thunder's Basketball Communications Game Night Representative will provide assistance to the media and to the Thunder's Basketball Communications staff during the 2013-14 NBA season. This position will commence in early October and run through the duration of the NBA season. Staff will beexpected to attend a majority of the Thunder's home games while also assisting with various other projects during the upcoming season.
Job Qualifications & Requirements:
- Desire to pursue a career in PR/professional sports upon college graduation.
- General knowledge of the National Basketball Association and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Must be self motivated and goal oriented.
- Must be able to work 30+ game nights during the 2013-14 season.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise the Thunder press room before, during and after all home games.
- Responsible for obtaining and transcribing quotes from players and coaches at the conclusion of the game.
- Distribute in-game statistics to media during timeouts and at the conclusion of each quarter.
- Assist local and national media with any questions or inquiries.
- Attend various press conferences and transcribe select media events during the season.
- Assist with game-day setup throughout the season. In such instances (likely 10-12 games), representatives would need to be available from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on game day (we are willing to work around students' class schedules).
- Assemble media and visiting team packets. Duties include dropping off media information/credentials to visiting team hotels one day prior to game.
- Maintain good attendance and punctuality.
- Other duties as assigned.
Other Information:
- All students will be paid $10 per hour and be provided with a pre-game meal in our press room.
- Interviews will take place in Gaylord Hall during the week of September 2-6th.

Internship - Legal Media Professional Diversity Fellowship (Virtual) **
This initiative is designed to increase the number of minorities working in journalism, diversity and public relations positions in the legal industry. Through a year-long virtual training program, the Lawyers of Color Foundation prepares minority students for media and public relations careers in the legal industry. Candidates, who are interested in using their social media training to pursue careers in other fields, are also welcome to participate. Candidates who show exceptional maturity and expertise will be invited to serve as project supervisors. Our organization seeks to promote diversity through research and programs that assist Black, Latina/o, Asian American, and Native American law students and legal professionals. We also promote and support the diversity efforts of other private and public sector legal organizations.
Upon satisfactory completion, a training certificate will be awarded. We will assist successful participants with securing paid internships and entry-level media, diversity and public relations positions in law firms, media companies, law schools, corporate legal departments, court systems, government legal agencies, civil rights organizations, and justice projects.
Duties
Participants will complete the following four training modules:
- Research, Statistics, & Contact Gathering
- Original Reporting, Blogging & Social Media
- Promotion & Marketing
- Event Planning
Participants will:
- Produce articles, photos, and multimedia digital content for web platforms.
- Gain understanding of social technologies & elements of successful social content.
- Develop creative tactics, including widgets and contests, to engage supporters on priority issues.
- Be jack-of-all trades, able to read, write, research, and engage dialogue on social media platforms.
- Engage audiences on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Youtube, Wordpress, and other social media.
- Create/implement monthly promotions and contests to grow friends and followers.
- Set up periodic giving campaigns using tools like Facebook Causes.
- Plan and oversee two pre-law events, one at a local high school and one at your college.
- Review and evaluate existing social media platforms & find ways to improve them.
- Attend and live tweet one local legal event each semester.
- Establish a media list for local and national bloggers.
- Learn project and task management processes.
- Be creative, innovative, bold, fun, flexible, & a good fit for our like-minded culture.
Requirements
Hours:
This is a virtual training program, so most of your weekly, required hours can be scheduled at your convenience; however, you will have to commit to a regularly-scheduled 30-minute weekly video or phone conference. Week 1, September 2-8: 30-hour commitment Week 2, September 9-15: 30-hour commitment Remaining school year: 6-hours per week commitment
Duration: 2013-14 Academic Year
Pay: Unpaid
Additional Information
During the first two (2) weeks of the program, participants will be required to commit 60-hours to training and research. Participants will have complete flexibility with how and when they complete the training and research; however it must be completed in the first two weeks in order to move on in the program.
Application Deadline: This program is open to students of all skill levels; however, space in the program is limited, so applicants will be accepted to the program in the order in which their applications are received. Participants who do not complete the initial 2-week training modules and tasks will be terminated. Interested candidates must complete and submit the following information sheet by Friday, August 30.

The State Chamber is excited to offer an internship program for area college students who are seeking to gain experience in legislative advocacy and communications. We are currently looking for qualified students to fill internship positions in our Government Affairs departments. Interns can hope to gain experience shadowing registered lobbyists, communicating on a statewide level with both business leaders and elected officials, or working on political campaign research and messaging - depending on the position. Student Employee - Graphic Designer
The Union Programming Office is looking for a student intern who is proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign 5/6. The intern must be responsible and able to meet deadlines. This position would be responsible for designing promotional pieces for union events including posters, t-shirts and elements for the Web. The pay is $10 per hour, 15-20 hours per week and may be available for credit. This position offers high volume and variety and is a great way to build a portfolio and get paid.
