OU Journalism Centennial Celebration, Sept. 5-7
|
Centennial Celebration
Sept. 5-7
This year marks 100 years of journalism education at OU. The name on the building and the name of the program have changed from just a School of Journalism in 1913, to the H. H. Herbert School of Journalism housed across the oval in Copeland Hall in 1961, to the Gaylord College in 2000 housed here in Gaylord Hall. We started our celebration last spring and will culminate with a special weekend of events including the Gaylord Prize (see below) honoring Tom Brokaw, JayMac Distinguished Alumni ceremony, faculty panel discussions and a tailgate party with alumni before the OU-West Virginia game. Watch for more information coming soon.

International Advertising
|
Information Session
7:30 a.m., Tues, Sept 17, 2013
Room 2025, Gaylord Hall
Gain an international perspective and understanding for how advertising works outside of the U.S. The Gaylord College has offered a course in international advertising in 10 out of the past 11 years. We will likely offer the class again this year. The course will be led by Professor Jim Avery.
Overview: This class is intended to give advertising, public relations, design and marketing students a view of how professional communication works internationally.
Location: Part of the study will be at the University of Oklahoma. The remainder will take place in either Asia or Europe:
- Asia: Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Macau, and Hong Kong
- Europe: Budapest, Frankfurt, and London.
The class will visit advertising agencies, public relations firms and potentially some marketing firms in the region of choice. There will be time for students to visit some sites of their choice.
If you are interested, contact Professor Avery at javery@ou.edu.
