Congratulations Jonathan Freeman! OAB Scholarship Winner

Gaylord College would like to congratulate Jonathan Freeman for receiving the Oklahoma Association of Broadcaster Foundation Scholarship. Jonathan is one of six students selected from across the state.
He will be recognized at a luncheon in Oklahoma City on March 13th.

Agency Leadership Academy Apps Due Friday!

Due Friday, March 1 by 4 p.m.!
Applications for the Summer 2013 Leadership Academy are now available outside Robert Pritchard's office in Gaylord 2120. Applications must be received no later than 4 p.m. on Friday, March 1 and interviews will be scheduled March 11 - 15 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. The Leadership Academy is set for the July block and covers agency operations, leadership and includes client work and field trips. There are no prerequisites for this class and it's a great way to accelerate your candidacy for Lindsey + Asp in the fall.

| Media Arts Centennial Competition |
Use your talents and skills to be a part of Gaylord's Centennial Celebration!
The Media Arts program at Gaylord is looking to produce a web series during
Fall 2013 with a budget of $25K, as part of our centennial celebration.
We're looking for a single story that can be broken into six five-minute segments.
Each segment should end with a compelling cliffhanger, problem, jeopardy or question that will bring our viewers back to watch the next episode.
Written pitches due March 1.
Finished scripts due May 1.
The winning script will get $500.
- Only Gaylord students can participate in the contest.
- Keep in mind that this project needs to be shot in the Norman area.
Feel free to pick a project that's shot mostly on green screen (like "300" or "Sin City").
- Please keep the cast down to a manageable number (under 10 perhaps).
Besides the web series, a variety of novellas, blogs, graphic novel and non-fiction "making of" plan to be developed around the world of this story.
Let your imagination go wild.
Horror, Mystery, Romance, Comedy, Drama, SciFi (like "The Matrix" or "Terminator") that takes place in our contemporary world.

| Spend your summer in the Nation's Capital | The Summer in Washington, D.C., Program immerses Gaylord College students into the culture of government and politics in the Nation's capitol. Students are exposed to campaign, governance and interest group politics through periodic gatherings, featuring political practitioners and national political journalists. They will receive practical experience in, and exposure to national politics as interns through various Washington offices.
Application packets may be found in the Gaylord College Student Services Center, on the second floor of Gaylord Hall.

NAJA Scholarship Deadline Approaching

Each year NAJA offers scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,500 to Native American students pursuing journalism degrees at a higher learning institution. To apply, students must be current paid members of the student NAJA chapter.

$5,000 AAJA Scholarship Available

The 2013 CIC/Anna Chennault Scholarship is a great opportunity for undergraduate students who are passionate about journalism. Not only does it provide a financial benefit, this scholarship offers a rare chance to network with professional journalists from all over the world.
Here are the essentials: $5,000 total in scholarship
-$1,100 towards paying for their travel and stay at AAJA's National Convention in New York
-$3,900 directly to student for school

10th District AAF Scholarships
|
AAF-District 10 has two, $2,500 scholarships which are designed to recognize, promote and encourage academically talented UNDERGRADUATE students in advertising-related disciplines, helping them to complete their education. In previous years, these scholarship applications were available only to AAF-District 10 college chapter members. In 2012, the Board of Directors of the District opened the applications review to ALL chapters and universities within the District.
Applications must be received by 5pm, Friday March 15. (Address is below.) Scholarship winners will be announced at the Tenth District annual convention in Tulsa during the April 11 student reception.
