We are looking for a super student to help with PR/Marketing!
|
 PR/Marketing Intern Needed! Gaylord College needs a student intern to assist the Director of Communication in the implementation of various communication projects for the college. Primary responsibilities will be for gathering information and communicating with students about Gaylord College events and other important information in the form of the weekly Gaylord Extra newsletter and calendar posters. The intern will also help run our social media accounts. Also will compile the Gaylord College Career newsletter and help with updates to the college's website. As time permits, other tasks will include research, writing, design and layout, maintaining and working with spreadsheets and databases, and assisting with preparation for events and limited clerical work. We need someone who can work 10-20 hours per week with flexible scheduling around classes and events. The position is open for both undergraduate or graduate students. Final deadline to sign up for the British Media Study Abroad for May-June 2013
|  There is still plenty of room and plenty of time to sign up for the British Media Study Abroad class for May-June 2013.
The class will visit Paris and London, Bristol and Cardiff in the UK. Visit top management, account executives, and reporters/editors from many different organizations. Site visits on these courses are weighted towards broadcast journalism. There will be a visit to a PR firm and an AD agency, but the main focus is on journalism. Download the Fact Sheet.

A follow-up workshop for more advanced users and highlighting new features added in PhotoShop 13 will be scheduled in upcoming weeks. The sessions will be led by Michael Acker, Gaylord College Software Specialist. Michael recently completed PhotoShop CS6 and PhotoShop CS6 Advanced training with Adobe.

Last chance to spend the summer in Germany!
| SPICE is an international communication studies summer program for undergraduate students that takes place at the University of Erfurt in Germany. The program is run by the University of Southern California/USA, Washington State University/USA, University of Texas at Austin/USA, University of Oklahoma/USA, University of Ottawa/Canada and the University of Erfurt/Germany as official partners.
Students will participate in two communication studies courses taught by faculty of the American partner universities. Erfurt communication studies students will join American students in class to make it a truly international experience. A one- week trip to Berlin including visits to political and media organizations and sightseeing is part of the course program.

Having a hard time finding your Interssion Classes?

There have been changes in how May and August Intersession courses are listed for Summer 2013. May and August Intersession are now listed under summer 2013 term, Block MAY and Block AUG. They are still being coordinated through the Interssession office, but by listing the courses in this manner, students may qualify for financial aid, which has not been allowed previously. Additional methods for students to use in identifying Intersession courses in May and/or August are:
- Campus is now listed as Intersession (previously Norman)
- Section numbers start at 850...

Program Overview
The Summer in Washington, D.C., Program immerses Gaylord College students into the culture of government and politics in the Nation's capitol. Students are exposed to campaign, governance and interest group politics through periodic gatherings, featuring political practitioners and national political journalists. They will receive practical experience in, and exposure to national politics as interns through various Washington offices.
Application packets may be found in the Gaylord College Student Services Center, on the second floor of Gaylord Hall.

Program Dates
Summer 2013 program begins on Monday, May 27, 2013, and ends on Friday, August 2, 2013. The periodic gatherings and mentoring activities will occur during the months of June and July. Students should plan to continue in their internship through August 2, allowing ten (10) weeks of experience (May 27th - August 2nd.)
Application
Students are required to submit an official program application by no later than Friday, March 1, 2013. Each application will have:
- a confirmed internship assignment,
- statement of interest,
- current résumé and transcript.

OKC Ad Club Scholarships

AAF-District 10 has two, $2,500 scholarships which are designed to recognize, promote and encourage academically talented UNDERGRADUATE students in advertising-related disciplines, helping them to complete their education. In previous years, these scholarship applications were available only to AAF-District 10 college chapter members. In 2012, the Board of Directors of the District opened the applications review to ALL chapters and universities within the District.
Applications must be received by 5pm, Friday March 15. (Address is below.) Scholarship winners will be announced at the Tenth District annual convention in Tulsa during the April 11 student reception.

$5,000 Scholarships for Greek American JMC Students
|
 Journalism and communications majors at the graduate and undergraduate level who a re of Greek American heritage may apply for annual scholarships given in the amount of $5,000 in memory of Peter Agris, the late founder and publisher of The Hellenic Chronicle. The non-renewable grants have been offered by the Alpha Omega Council of New England and the Agris family for the last two decades. Criteria for candidates includes: Greek American heritage; U.S. citizenship; current full-time enrollment as a journalism or related communications major at the graduate or undergraduate level in an accredited college or university in the United States; active participation in school, community, church organizations; minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrated financial need. Candidates may visit the scholarships' website on Facebook ~ The Peter Agris Memorial Journalism Scholarships ~ and download an application on the Alpha Omega Council's website at www.alphaomegacouncil.com.
