Gala Under Glass was a fabulous party, and we want to extend our tremendous thanks to everyone who supported the Conservatory by attending or donating to the event. On May 7, over 200 guests were treated to live music from the Dick Bright Orchestra, entertainment by the Deco Belles dance troupe, sumptuous food and exotic cocktails, and an exclusive "sneak peak" of our lush new special exhibit, Stranded! Tropical Island Survival, on the night before it opened to the public!

Diane B. Wilsey, who generously donated at the Majestic Palm level, served as this year's Honorary Chair, and for the second year in a row, Martha Woollomes went above and beyond as the Chair of the Gala Committee. View more photos HERE on our Facebook page. THANK YOU to all who participated, and we'll see you next year!

Blinded by the white
The Conservatory got a fresh new coat of whitewash in April
During the last two weeks of April, some very thorough and meticulous painters frosted every inch of our beloved greenhouse with a fresh new coat of our signature brilliant white. Stop by soon and check out our gleaming new look!

Amorphophallus konjac
What's in Bloom?
Amorphophallus konjac

Hold your nose...the A. konjac is currently unfurled and filling our Potted Plants gallery with the stench of dead rats!

This native of East Asia unfurls about once a year and gives off an odor of rotting meat which, while off-putting to humans, is a seductive lure for the beetles and flies that pollinate the smelly, liver-colored "beauty" in its natural habitat. Stop by this week...the smell only lasts a few days!

Visit our What's in Bloom page to see what else is blooming.
