Dive into the dazzling world of aquatic plants this fall, in a new exhibition of tropical underwater gardens! Go 'below the surface' as you stroll past lush, living aquascapes, imaginatively crafted to highlight the diversity of the freshwater tropical waterways of Africa, Asia and South America.

Aquascaping, the art of creating stunning underwater landscapes with plants, stones and wood, is a popular international gardening trend. Annual competitions attract hundreds of elaborate entries from around the world. The beautifully planted aquariums can mimic everything from primeval forests to verdant valleys or can become sublime works of underwater abstract art.

This will be the Conservatory's first-ever exhibit featuring aquascapes. We're thrilled to give visitors a chance to marvel at this unique form of water gardening, and to learn how aquatic plants have adapted to life in the deep. Underwater Gardens: The Art of Aquascaping will be in Special Exhibits from November 13, 2014 - April 12, 2015.

Two More Months to Catch Chomp
Chomp! They Came from the Swamp
If you haven't yet seen our most popular Chomp exhibit ever, be sure to come by between now and Sunday, October 19.

This year our exhibits staff partnered with Damon Collingsworth and the other good folks at California Carnivores to create a swampy paradise filled with Venus fly traps, sarracenias, butterworts and many other varieties of carnivorous plants.

Colorful signage explains how these exotic beauties lure unsuspecting insect prey into their traps, and giant fabricated models give visitors a "bug's-eye" view of the fascinating predators.

Stop by soon and see Chomp! They Came from the Swamp while you still can...Only two months left!
