Handbells

Fall is approaching and that means our BELLS return to our services. I am looking forward to this season.
If you want to play this year I have room for you. The most important factor to a good bell choir which can support our liturgy on a regular basis is having enough ringers.
Each year the choirs available are dependent upon the ringers available that season. I am hoping to have new ringers this year including adults and children and teens. Several of our very good ringers have taken off for a few seasons and I am hoping they will return.

Choirs I am hoping we can ring:
Chancel Ringers ( main adult/teen choir). Needs 13 members.

Cadet Ringers. (Teens).

Little Lambs (7-9) [age can vary]. I'm actually hoping this can be a blended child/parent or grandparent/new adult choir.

Please consider ringing with us. I'd like to know by August 20 who all will be joining us.
All of you who have rang with us before PLEASE tell me yes or no about returning. And PLEASE consider returning. We really need every one of you.
Phone: 501-920-5706. You can call and leave message or text.

Half Truths, an Exciting Adult forum beginning July 31

Join the Adult Forum from 9: 30 to 10:15 after breakfast in the Parish hall where we will study Half Truths with Adam Hamilton and Deacon Joanna July 31 through August 28

These are simple phrases. They sound Christian-like something you might find in the Bible. We've all heard these words. Maybe we've said them. They capture some element of truth, yet they miss the point in important ways.
Join Adam Hamilton in searching for the whole truth by comparing common Christian clichés to the message and ministry of Jesus.

The clichés include:
* Everything happens for a reason.  July 31
* God helps those who help themselves. August 7
* God won't give you more than you can handle. August 14
* God said it, I believe it, that settles it. August 21
* Love the sinner, hate the sin.  August 28

This is an amazing series you will not want to miss.

Blessing of the Backpacks for Teachers and students

We will hold our Blessing of the Backpacks at both services on Sunday, August 28th. Please be sure to have your children bring their backpacks, or if you teach, your school bag, to church this Sunday to receive a special prayer and gift. There will be sheets of lunch box notes for parents in the Narthex.

Fr. Carey Returns August 28th!!

Fr. Carey Stone returns from his sabbatical on August 28th! Be sure to join us to welcome him back to St. Luke's.
Rally Day September 11th

Join us between the services on September 11th for Rally Day! Meet your Formation instructors, join new ministries, and make new friends over a potluck brunch in the parish hall. If your ministry group would like to set up a table in order to recruit new members or to advertise your ministry, please contact Suzzette Patterson or the Church Office. Deadline for table sign up is September 4th. A signup sheet for the brunch finger food items is in the Narthex. The children are in need of Saint Costumes for a Rally Day picture shoot. If you have any, please contact Jennifer Green or the church office.
JASON PENNINGTON

Our organist, Jason Pennington, has accepted a new position at Trinity Cathedral in Little Rock. His last Sunday is Aug. 28th.

FORMATION

Children and Youth formation will resume Rally Day September 11. Adult formation will continue at 9:30 in the Parish Hall discussing Half Truths following breakfast at 9.

SUNDAY SCHOOL

The formation of our children is probably the most important part of the programs at St. Luke's. We have some amazing children. Prayerfully consider being a part of this vital ministry helping with Sunday School and/or Children's Chapel. You will be making a difference in so many lives and I can promise your life will be changed as well. Contact Joanna to learn more about this ministry. joannaseibert@me.com.
