ALL THE WOMEN OF ST. LUKE'S ARE CORDIALLY INVITED TO AN E.C.W. MEETING THIS SUNDAY

September 28, in the Parish Hall immediately after the 10:30 Service

Lunch and child care provided

RESERVATIONS FOR THIS EVENT ARE NEEDED BY FRIDAY SO THAT WE HAVE AN ACCURATE COUNT FOR LUNCH.

Our guest speaker will be Betsy Watson, author of The Modern Woman's Guide to an Old Fashioned Christmas-How to Make it Stress Free!

Young women these days have so many demands on their time and energies that the prospect of creating a joyful Christmas celebration can seem daunting. Betsy Watson has been creating Christmas celebrations for her family and friends for over forty years. A self-proclaimed Christmas "nut," she has had lots of fun - and lots of disasters - over the years preparing her home and her family for this merriest of seasons. You won't want to miss her delightful stories, helpful hints, and the chance to pick up a signed copy of her book!

No charge for any of this, but we do need to know who needs child care and how many we're feeding for lunch. So please call the church office to make a reservation.

On-Going Events and Programs

Outreach Opportunities

Supporting United Way: One way to support St. Francis House ministry is designated giving though United Way.  If your company supports United Way through payroll deduction you can designate your gift to St. Francis House just by writing our name in the designate block of your sign-up form.  If you are a Federal employee you can put St. Francis House's "Combined Federal Campaign number" 74617 on your sign-up form.

ST. FRANCIS HOUSE GROCERY MINISTRY: Can you bring ONE food item ONCE a month for FIVE months this year? St. Luke's is again partnering with Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Little Rock this year to help provide additional groceries for four families that the St. Francis House staff has identified as needing additional help with groceries at the end of the month. Items needed are on the signup sheet in the narthex. Just choose one grocery item to bring for five months this year (the months of October, November, January, February and March) on the fourth Sunday of the month.  Drivers are also needed once a month to deliver the groceries to St. Francis House. If you have questions regarding this ministry or wish to donate in other ways to help support this ministry, please contact Jeannie Fry at [email protected]

PANERA BREAD FOR VET'SWe have an opportunity to deliver freshly baked goods to the vets housed at St. Francis House once a month.  Several parish members have done this in the past and we hope to continue this gift to these vets.  If you would like to continue to do this or if you would like to volunteer to help deliver these baked goods from the Lakewood Village Panera Bread location to St. Francis House, please contact Jeannie Fry at [email protected]

VOLUNTEER COOKS are still needed to help with St. Luke's Respite Care.  This is an ecumenical ministry to provide caregivers with a day away by providing a place to bring parents and loved ones for a few hours each Thursday.  Respite still needs volunteer cooks to prepare one meal for the volunteers and clients.  The meal may be prepared at home and brought to respite, or the meal may be prepared on Thursday in the parish hall kitchen.  Cooks are reimbursed for the groceries used to prepare the meal. Contact Tommie Williams at 501.843.9753 if you are interested in volunteering or have any questions.
