  • Race For the Cure: Attention women and men of St. Luke's!  This year, we will be organizing a team for the Race for the Cure once again!   Honor breast cancer survivors, celebrate the lives of those who have lost their fight or show your support for the Komen promise, to end breast cancer forever, with your St. Luke's Episcopal Church family! Together, we can make an even greater impact than we can alone.  The Race for the Cure will be on October 19, 2013. Won't you please consider joining us?  You can either join online (instructions here) or see me at church and I will sign you up! ~ Shannon Stone.
  • St. Luke's Day Carnival~ Oct. 19th: Please join us on Oct. 19th from two to five for a celebration of St. Luke! There will be food, games, prizes, a pumpkin decorating contest (begin thinking about your design ideas!), and a silent auction. Peggie needs to borrow 3 footballs and many card tables for the Festival. Please contact her if you can assist.
  • St. Luke's Second Annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest and Silent Auction: Acquire a pumpkin (or pumpkins) and paint it, glue anything on it, do anything to it you want to-with one exception: do not carve or cut it. Pumpkin must remain whole and intact. Prizes will be awarded for the most creative efforts and all contributions will be sold via silent auction during the Feast of St. Luke celebration dinner on Saturday, October 19. Please bring your entry to the parish hall on the day of the event and all "creations" will be on display throughout the day.   We had over 20 entries last year so make plans now to join in the fun! • Evensong: Join us for a service of Evensong on October 27th at 6:30 pm.
  • Episcopal Church Women Fall Gathering, Oct 25-27: Arkansas ECW President Susan Carter is so excited to welcome the ladies of our diocese to her hometown, Helena, for the 2013 Fall Gathering to experience "Southern Hospitality, Helena Style." She and the ladies of St. John's are diligently working to ensure sure this year's event is a success and she wants each of you to join them. Didn't the ladies of St. Paul's in Fayetteville treat us special last year? We were able to renew acquaintances and I know many of you have made every recipe from their wonderful cookbook. Did anyone ever duplicate that wonderful biscotti? As you can see, we have made many memories together and we want to continue that tradition. Take  time to look over the attached brochure, fill it out and join us October 25 - 26, 2013, in Helena!

  • Duos and Trios, October 29: St. Luke's Episcopal Church in North Little Rock is pleased to host "DUOS AND TRIOS:  MUSIC FOR WINDS AND PERCUSSION". Additionally, the ensembles will perform music by John Steinmetz, Gareth Farr and Mark Watters. On-Going Events

  • 12 STEP EUCHARIST: The Eucharist on the first Wednesday of the month at noon at St. Luke's Episcopal Church 4106 JFK, will begin incorporating the 12 steps as well as the healing service in its liturgy. The service has been prepared by the Recovery Ministries of the Episcopal Church. It is a teaching liturgy showing us how the spirituality of the 12 steps is part of the liturgy of the Eucharist. For people in recovery, this liturgy may be important to see how each of the steps is present in the liturgy of the word and the table. For those not in involved in a 12 step program, the service will be an introduction to the spirituality of the 12 step program.

  • St. Luke's Labyrinth Guild hosts a community Labyrinth walk the first Tuesday of each month from 6 to 7 pm and the first Saturday from 9 to 11 am. This is a wonderful way to learn how to use this ancient and sacred meditative way of connecting to God.

Outreach

  • STOCK the PANTRY THIS SUNDAY: Sunday will be the 2nd Sunday of each month. Stock the Pantry Sunday provides an opportunity for St. Luke's to help the Park Hill Christian Food Pantry by donating your non-perishable foods. If you forget to bring your items that day, you may still bring your food items to the church narthex and place them in the "Food Pantry" box. If you have questions regarding this ministry, please contact Jeannie Fry at [email protected]
  • ST. FRANCIS HOUSE GROCERY MINISTRY: We still are in need of canned goods for three of our St. Francis House families.  There is still time to sign up for this ministry to bring canned goods once a month on the fourth Sunday for five months this year. St. Francis House provided St. Luke's with a list of six area families that need help with groceries at the end of the month.  St. Luke's is partnering with the Church of the Good Shepherd in providing monthly groceries for these families.  Good Shepherd is sponsoring two families and St. Luke's is sponsoring four families. If you have questions regarding this ministry, please contact Jeannie Fry at [email protected]

  • Habitat for Humanity update: Last spring, volunteers from St. Luke's worked on the wall raising for the Habitat for Humanity house on Cynthia Drive. Some of you kept it up when  notified that a workday was scheduled.  In the last 6 weeks they have had  professional contractors working on the house.  They will let us know when it is finished, so those who wish to can attend the dedication.  Below is a message from the HFH development director: Habitat for Humanity September 26, 2013: Dearest Volunteers, Cynthia St. is almost complete!!! 30-45 Days!!! We have sheetrocked the home and the cabinets are ready to go up. We need to finish all of our mechanicals and inspections and we should be ready!! All we need now is a ton of prayers!!! Thank you all so much for your time and energy to make the Apostle's Build a huge success. We could not complete our mission without your help. In God's Hands Always, Steve Biernacki, Development Director Habitat for Humanity
