  • Many of you at St. Luke's will remember Hannah Hooker, and will pleased to learn that she has begun studies at Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, VA. As part of its ministry, the ECW recently awarded $500 to Hannah to help with expenses this semester. If you would like to send Hannah your best wishes she may be reached at [email protected]. If you would also like to extend a little help, checks should be sent to her father, John Hooker at 4425 Valley Brook Drive, NLR, AR 72116. The ECW hopes to continue some assistance later, and also some funds collected for the CPC will be allocated toward her Seminary expenses

  • The Building and Grounds Committee will meet Thursday August 15 at 6pm in the adult classroom.  Anyone interested in working to improve or maintain our wonderful facility is welcome.  We owe  Ed Seward and Travis Heard a big "Thank You"  for all their hard work keeping our grounds and buildings looking great.

  • Blessing of Backpacks August 18: Fr. Carey will be blessing backpacks of children who will be returning to school Sunday, August 18. Bring backpacks for this special blessing.

  • Food for Backpacks for Rice Depot: St. Luke's will be collecting food to fill backpacks of school children for Rice Depot. There is a container for the food in the Narthex with lists of food items needed. The list is also here online. These food items also will be blessed on August 18

  • Blood Drive August 18th:to benefit some great friends that have had twins born 3 months premature. Turner Clancy was born 1 Lb. 14 Oz. and Cash Clancy was born 2 Lb. 4 OZ. The Blood drive will be August 18 Th. from 10:30 - 4:00 at the Church of Christ located at 917 East Street, Benton, Arkansas. The family sincerely appreciates anyone who can participate in this event. If you can not donate and would like to make a contribution to this family you can send a check to St. Luke's Episcopal Church and on the memo line write Clancy family. All donations will be used to buy gift cards to where the babies are registered. Thank you for giving the precious/invaluable gift of life to this family and many others that will benefit from this blood drive.~ Dan Dennis

On-Going Events

  • 12 STEP EUCHARIST: The Eucharist on the first Wednesday of the month at noon at St. Luke's Episcopal Church 4106 JFK, will begin incorporating the 12 steps as well as the healing service in its liturgy. The service has been prepared by the Recovery Ministries of the Episcopal Church. It is a teaching liturgy showing us how the spirituality of the 12 steps is part of the liturgy of the Eucharist. For people in recovery, this liturgy may be important to see how each of the steps is present in the liturgy of the word and the table. For those not in involved in a 12 step program, the service will be an introduction to the spirituality of the 12 step program.

  • St. Luke's Labyrinth Guild hosts a community Labyrinth walk the first Tuesday of each month from 6 to 7 pm and the first Saturday from 9 to 11 am. This is a wonderful way to learn how to use this ancient and sacred meditative way of connecting to God.

Outreach

  • STOCK the PANTRY: STOCK the PANTRY Sunday will be the 2nd Sunday of each month.  Stock the Pantry Sunday provides an opportunity for St. Luke's to help the Park Hill Christian Food Pantry by donating your non-perishable foods. The next Sunday for collection for the food pantry will be Sunday, September 8. If you forget to bring your items the designated day, you may still bring your food items to the church Narthex and place them in the "Food Pantry" box.
