CROWNWeb Reminder: Do Not Send PHI and PII Data via Email
|
Did you know that you could lose your CROWNWeb access and will need to retake the CROWNWeb Security Awareness Challenge if you send patients' Personal Health Information (PHI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII) to anyone via email? When emailing CRAFT, your ESRD Network, the QualityNet Help Desk, etc. regarding patient information in CROWNWeb, you only need to include the patients' CROWN Unique Patient Identifier (UPI) as part of that message. The CROWN UPI is a set of numbers specific to CROWNWeb. This information provides authorized individuals access to the patient information in CROWNWeb.
So remember, do not email patient information (name, date of birth, social security number, Medicare number, modality, name of facility treating patient, admission/discharge data, etc.) to anyone. | Only include a patient's CROWN UPI, shown on the left. |
