ReSource Newsletter Expands to Two Regions

CINHC is pleased to announce the expansion of the ReSource Newsletter to include both the San Francisco Bay Area Nursing Resource Center (BANRC) as well as the Los Angeles Area Nursing Resource Center (LANRC)  Our combined efforts will streamline communications and coordinate planning with both Northern and Southern California. Centralized Clinical Placement System (CCPS) users and key stakeholders will receive information regarding clinical placement planning updates, additions and changes to the CCPS Tool, placement cycle dates and training sessions.  Projects and activities unique to each region will also be shared and help to inform others in California. We hope you find this new shared format an improvement.

Thank you for your continued participation.  We hope you enjoy the expanded ReSource Newsletter!

Bay Area News and Updates

Over the month of May, CINHC partnered with the Foundation for California Community Colleges (FCCC) to gather information from San Francisco Bay Area hospitals and schools regarding clinical placement strategies for nursing students and use of the Centralized Clinical Placement System (CCPS).  Phone interviews, surveys and focus groups captured community input as to how CCPS can better meet the needs of current, past, and potential users.  The study has been led by a third party, the RP Group, which is the Research & Planning Group for California Community Colleges, and is funded by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation.  Results of the study will inform and hopefully align a product road map for identifying clinical placement features and function that will best serve schools and clinical sites as care continues to expand to community-based care.  Results will be shared with other CCPS licensed locations, including Los Angeles and Bakersfield in California, as well as our users across the country.  Highlights of the study will be shared at the next newsletter.

Los Angeles Area News and Updates

LANRC Advisory Board Updates
The Los Angeles Nursing Resource Center would like to thank Suzette Cardin, University of California Los Angeles, UCLA for her service as Co-Chair to the LANRC Advisory Board.  We truly appreciate your excellent leadership and dedication to the Los Angeles Region!

The LANRC Advisory Committee would like to welcome Renee Pozza, Azusa Pacific University.  Renee will be joining Lynette Dahlman, Huntington Memorial Hospital as C0-Chair of the LANRC Advisor Board. We appreciate the commitment to serve in this role!

LANRC/CCPS Coordinators Survey
It's that time of year again for the LANRC/CCPS Coordinators Survey.  We value your feedback and hope that all Clinical Agency and School Coordinators will participate.  The survey provides important feedback from our CCPS users where the data can be used to improve the CCPS tool and provide insight into the needs of our users.  Please watch your email for this brief 10 minute survey.  If you have any questions or comments please email tianda@cinhc.org, Southern California CCPS Project  Coordinator.

CCPS PLACEMENT CYCLE SPRING/SUMMER 2015 CALENDAR

August 18 - September 5, 2014

Hospitals review, confirm and extend availability through December 31, 2015 for both cohort and preceptor programs. We understand some hospitals will need to modify future availability if census and building plans change. These changes can be done as needed throughout the year.

September 8 - September 26, 2014

(Preceptor requests due November 7)

Schools make requests for all courses that start January 2015 through the end of the spring/summer terms. (Courses that usually end by August 31)

September 29 - October 17, 2014

(Preceptor placement decisions due December 12) Hospitals review proposed requests and make placement decisions. Hospitals are encouraged to accept long-standing/historic placements and to decline proposals they know they cannot accommodate as quickly as possible, as a courtesy to schools.
