The award-winning company behind 2011's smash hit Waiting for Godot brings to life the satiric tale of an irresistible rogue and defiant hedonist. Blackbird Theatre presents a daring new adaptation of Molière's most scandalous comedy, Don Juan. Three songs, two duels and a trip to Hell - an evening with comedy's great master playwright, Molière. The satiric tale follows the irresistible rogue and defiant hedonist down an unrepentant path to hellfire and brimstone. Music features a newly commissioned rock mass in Latin (with electric guitar) from composer Peter Berring, and arias from Mozart's Don Giovanni, sung and played on the guitar and harpsichord by the leading actors.

The IGNITE! Mentorship Program is now Accepting Applications
As part of The Cultch's Youth Program, The IGNITE! Mentorship Program offers a series of one-on-one mentorship opportunities in specific media to youth, aged 13-24, who want to pursue a career in the arts. This year we are thrilled to offer more opportunities than ever before including mentorships in Dance, Playwriting, Songwriting, Spoken Word, Directing (Scripted Material), Directing (Devised Material), Stage Design (Set and Costumes), and Publicity. In each of these areas, promising young artists will work with mentors in their chosen media. The Cultch presents some of the most accomplished artists from across Canada and around the world. The Mentorship Program is designed to allow emerging artists in the community to access and learn from this incredible pool of talent. To reflect the climate of the professional industry, the 2013 Mentorship Program encourages collaboration. Participants will work with young artists of all disciplines. We will also be kicking off the season with a big bang! BUT you're going to have to wait to find out how. It's a surprise for participants - we can't reveal all of our secrets just yet! The Rio Tinto Alcan Performing Arts Award is a $60,000 production fund open to performing arts companies resident in British Columbia and is administered by The Cultch. The award was conceived to recognize the achievements of British Columbia performing arts companies and to foster the creation of new work by providing a significant financial investment in a new production by the chosen company. A: Hi, my name is Ricky and I'm the Marketing Coordinator at The Cultch. I've been with The Cultch for three months now and have fallen in complete love with the people and programming. In my spare time, I enjoy making art and Youtube videos and have a habit of drinking too much coffee
Q: Inquiring minds wants know... Who's your favorite superhero?!
A: Annie Hall from the Woody Allen film. While she may not be a classic super hero per se, I've always considered her quirky charisma and fashion sense as very heroic - in the sense that you should always be yourself!
Q: What's you favorite place to grab lunch on the Drive, Ricky?
A: Hands down, Harambe on Commercial Drive. Harambe has turned me into devout fan of Ethiopian food. My favourite thing to get is the combo platter which comes with an assortment of curries on top of this amazing spongy bread. Also, their honey wine is incredible! Thanks, Ricky. Grandview-Woodlands: Neighbourhood planning through dialogue
The Grandview-Woodlands neighbourhood is home to artists of all types, including renowned carvers, writers, sculptors, musicians, actors and more. In fact, more artists and people connected with the arts economy live in this community than any other place in Vancouver and we play an important role in the City's cultural landscape. Lots of ideas have already been shared through planning sessions and now is the time to build on this input, refining general ideas around neighbourhood arts and culture and exploring possibilities for neighbourhood-based policy directions. Director of Patron Development: The Director of Patron Development manages the Patron Loyalty Team and is responsible for integrated patron development. S/he creates a short- and long-term vision and plan to bring ticket buyers and donors to The Cultch, retain their participation over the long term, and increase their level of commitment to the organisation over their lifetime.
