Every January, the 140 members of Virginia's legislature gather in Richmond for the General Assembly session. In 2014, from January 8 through March 8, members of the House of Delegates and Virginia Senate will consider legislation that has the potential to impact all Virginians. Additionally, as during all evenly numbered years, the General Assembly will also develop and adopt a biennial budget.

As a citizen legislator, I strongly believe in the importance of hearing feedback from constituents. I hope that you will monitor Virginia's Legislative Information System to learn about bills and contact my office with any questions about legislation or the budget process.

Get Involved in the Legislative Process!
Because I need your input in order to represent your priorities, please take a moment to complete my 2014 General Assembly session survey by clicking HERE. Your feedback is important and ensures that I can share your perspective with my colleagues in the General Assembly.

Also, if you would like to volunteer to help in my Richmond office, please email Amanda Johnston at [email protected].  The best way to learn about the legislative process is to get involved!
2014 Legislation
The 2014 session brings a number of important legislative priorities, including ethics reform and Medicaid and mental health reform.  I look forward to sharing updates about these initiatives with you.

This year, I am introducing several bills and budget amendments addressing issues including property rights, mental health, education, fiscal accountability, public safety, and governmental transparency. Beginning this Friday, each week I will highlight a couple of my bills or budget amendments as well as other legislation that may be of interest to you.  If you would like a preview of my filed legislation, please click HERE.
Visitors Welcome!
As always, if you are in Richmond during the upcoming weeks, please stop by my office in Room 403 of the General Assembly Building located at the corner of 9th and Broad Streets.  Visitors from the district are always welcome!
Sincerely,
